We have fallen again tonight
Where do we go from here
When they're tearing down our lives?
When all they want is,
When all they want is for us to live in fear,
How long can we hold on?
Can we hold on?
that keeps my faith alive,
When all you can do is hide
from the fear that's deep inside of you
Something, something, something,
Something, something, something to hold me close
when I don't know
There's something deep inside that keeps my faith alive
But it's killing us inside
Can we take a chance
when faith and fear collide?
We can make it,
Step out and take it,
We can't live feeling so numb
How long can we hold on?
Can we hold on, hold on?
that keeps my faith alive,
When all you can do is hide
from the fear that's deep inside of you
Something, something, something,
Something, something, something to hold me close
when I don't know
There's something deep inside that keeps my faith alive

I think this song means that even when you're dying on the inside, and you think of straying away from God, you feel a tug at your heart that helps you keep your faith.

I agree completely, and i also think that it can have another meaning too, that if you fail by letting God down and fall down to tempations when people try to take your faith away or attack your faith, then God still holds you back: "hold me close when we don't know" - when we think we're fallen away from faith is when God is holding us close: it's a song of comfort to me.

This song relates to me at least, as being about anything you have desperate hope and faith in, and it's almost impossible to keep the faith in that thing, but somehow you make it through andkeep going. "Courage is fear with perserverance", that sort of thing.

yes. this song relates to me so much right now. man skillet is such an awesome band. i can't believe i've taken them for granted all these years. well, rock music never was my music genre but ever since i went to see them at spirit west coast their lyrics are sooooooo powerful.

word to skillet they rock without a doubt!!!

i wanted to go to spirit west coast so bad but i cant now cause i moved

Thank God they wrote this song. I heard it 2 years ago n' now i've got all their albumz

i absolutely love this song. it's been one of my favorites since i heard them 3 years ago live and bought their cd. this song is so powerful and really describes the battle we have to endure each day

I have a very odd interpretation of this, but here goes: I think this song is about how the world is tearing us down, (when all they want is for us to live in fear, How long can we hold on?) Even when everything we have and everything we trust in falls apart, something inside us is still hanging on to the truth, is still allowing us to hold fast to what we know and believe to be true.

I just saw them Friday night, and golden child, your interpretation is pretty much right on. John said it's about how rock and music used to be something he escaped his problems with, and now it's all about anger and hatred.
