We were steamin' at the seams
and the scene seemed like in dreams
Pressed close behind the tinted glass
as the cop's headlights scrolled past
"I can't see a thing,"
Kelly said blushing
as she spelled our names on the window
of her sister's Monte Carlo
And this is the soundtrack
playing in back
of our restless lives
And though they make no sense
these are the moments
we'll remember for
the rest of our restless lives

Lyin' behind Venetian blinds
in the depth of summertime
hiding from the asshole sun
copying Jon's record collection
Bedroom reeked of death
sweaty sheets and Sunday breath
with ambition for ammunition
and the pulse of a machinegun

You see the movies that you want to see
right?
And you know what you want to be
right?
So choose between A, be , or see
It's free will
but it's still
a recipe
So what about the rest of us?
What about the restless?
Will we be restless for the rest of our lives?

At first I thought this song was about how you'll remember all the good or exciting times you have as a teenage kid for the rest of your life. But then he starts talking about free will and whatnot, and I don't know anymore...

I think they're trying to say that everyone thinks their life is so original... but really, most people lead the exact same type of life... based on what is the accepted norm - but for a few: "the restless" it's different... And, in a way, it's a good thing... (to be different) ...but in another way, they have no idea what their future holds & it leaves them with a lot of questions.

i think its about how the matches music relates to everyday life for people (the cool ones atleast) ------ "And this is the soundtrack playing in back of our restless lives" and that their music is about little things in life that dont mean as much as the bigger things that happen but they are the most memorable"And though they make no sense these are the moments we'll remember for the rest of our restless lives"

You see the movies that you wanna see right? And you know what you wanna be right? So choose between A, B, or C It's free will but it's still a recipe So what about the rest of us? What about the restless? Will we be restless for the rest of our lives?

I think its about choosing what you do which helps build you're life not according to others though. Just whatever you choose and decide to. What you choose to do is the recipe of life.

I think it is more about growing up. Most people follow the life track of school, high school, (college), job/career. (choose between a b or c... Free will, but still a recipe for life) Whereas the restless are those who grow up as musicians or in the music scene where their futures aren't exactly guaranteed, or those who simply choose not to follow the usual track of life. (will we be restless for the rest of our lives?) And as the restless grow up they will remember things like making out with a girl in a car and secretly copying a friend's cd collection.

Plastic Bag
Ed Sheeran
“Plastic Bag” is a song about searching for an escape from personal problems and hoping to find it in the lively atmosphere of a Saturday night party. Ed Sheeran tells the story of his friend and the myriad of troubles he is going through. Unable to find any solutions, this friend seeks a last resort in a party and the vanity that comes with it. “I overthink and have trouble sleepin’ / All purpose gone and don’t have a reason / And there’s no doctor to stop this bleedin’ / So I left home and jumped in the deep end,” Ed Sheeran sings in verse one. He continues by adding that this person is feeling the weight of having disappointed his father and doesn’t have any friends to rely on in this difficult moment. In the second verse, Ed sings about the role of grief in his friend’s plight and his dwindling faith in prayer. “Saturday night is givin’ me a reason to rely on the strobe lights / The lifeline of a promise in a shot glass, and I’ll take that / If you’re givin’ out love from a plastic bag,” Ed sings on the chorus, as his friend turns to new vices in hopes of feeling better.
