Tie me to a tree
Tie my hands above my head
Sing a song to me
Sing a song like what you said

Cause they're gonna murder me
They're gonna take me down
Something
I crumble down

Come spit at us
Come and throw your weight around
Come and fight with us
Come and rock me to the ground

Cause they're gonna murder me
They're gonna take me down
Something
I crumble down

So what can it possibly be?
Oh what can it possibly be?
Oh what can it possibly be?

Wow. This song is just the epitome of paranoia!

By the way, these lyrics are wrong, these are the correct ones taken from coldplay.com:

Murder coming to get us Yeah coming to get us and away we hide Murder, see it all around us See it all around us And away we hide

Murder coming to get us They're coming to get us And away we hide Away we hide

Tie me to a tree Tie my hands above my head Sing a song to me Sing a song like what you said

And they're gonna murder me They're gonna take me down Even before I sleep I cry murder

Come spit at us Come and throw your weight around Come and fight with us Try and knock us to the ground

'Cause they're gonna murder me They're gonna take me down Even before I sleep I scream murder Murder

Oh now what can it possibly gain? Oh what can it possibly gain? Oh now what can it possibly gain? Oh yeah what can it possibly gain?

Cry murder, murder I cry murder

Murder I'm coming to get us I'm coming to get us And away we hide Murder, see it all around us See it all around us And away we hide Murder coming to get us It's coming to get us And away we hide Murder, see it all around you See it all around you And away we hide

What a haunting song. I mean, the progression is just uncommon and minor and sad. This song twists my insides and makes me wish I was tied to the front of a boat as the waves broke against my body... About what he means... I really don't know. Maybe he got into some serious trouble and people were coming after him and his partner in crime (coming to get us). Ok, let me listen to this song and soar wingless off the edge off my castle of pain.

I haven't listened to this song enough to really understand the meaning of the song, but it's one of my favorites. The melody is lovely and Chris' voice just adds the flavor to make it nice, rich blend.

I feel that i can really understand what the song is about. Is about when you got the feeling in the air, wherever you are/go, that something bad is going to happen to you soon, like a premonition. so theres a line that says: "oh what could it possible be " ? He cant have calm cause he knows something very bad is about to happen soon. brigita.

I think it's about having to face the consequences of your actions in general, and authority in particular. He alters between fear ("I crumble down"), confrontational anger ("Come and fight with us"), and asking for consolation and succour ("Sing a song to me"). Overall, he can't face it, so he continues running and hiding even though he has no hope.

I think this song is about our oblivion to the destruction and evil around us in the world.

I feel like it's a song about how people who are different get murdered by media and negative comments

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
