Romantic Comedy Lyrics

It's been five years, we've had good and bad
The ivy grows thick in our dark backyard
When I shave in the morning you don't recognize me
I ask if you're still there and you answer "truly"
So don't walk away then turn and say "I love you" anyway
Don't walk away then turn and say "I love you" anyway
You come for a week to love me
Then you're up and leave next day
So don't walk away then turn and say "I love you" anyway

You think you're so bad but you're just badly raised
You twist and turned all the love that we made
I cannot hold on
And I cannot let go
I was wasted at fifteen
Never learned to go slow

Don't walk away then turn and say "I love you" anyway
Don't walk away then turn and say "I love you" anyway
You come for a week to love me
Then you're up and leave next day
So don't walk away then turn and say "I love you" anyway

You pick the curtains and I'll pick the sheets
The silver anniversary will be the next time we meet
I loved you before
And I'll love you
'til then, you're my foe and my lover and brother and friend

Don't stay for the good stuff
There ain't none around
I'll love you and leave you and drive from this town
Before I give you the ring there's one thing you should know
You have seven seconds before it's too late to go

So
Don't walk away then turn and say "I love you" anyway
I never ever want to see you 'til our wedding day
Don't walk away then turn and say "I love you" anyway
I never ever want to see you 'til our wedding day

You come for a week to love me
Then you're up and leave next day
I never ever want to see you 'til our wedding day
Don't walk away then turn and say "I love you" anyway
I never ever want to see you 'til our wedding day
Don't walk away

A long distance relationship where the couple doesn't see each other all the time, and the guy isn't even sure if he is in love with the girl or not, he's just upset that she always says "i love you" before she leaves and he doesn't think that she means it. it's quite sad and it's an easy song to relate to. Having your girl walk away and leave you for a long time when you need her by your side, it just seems so fake at that point.

i can't believe so few comments on this song. i think it's called romantic comedy because the girl in it seems to like the drama and twists and difficulties usually in romantic comedies. like, even though the audience knows they're getting together, you have to sit and watch all these conflicts, even though you know they're getting together. this couple sounds like they like drama, even though they KNOW they'll wind up together. they're all about games and drama.

dont walk away then turn and say "i love you anyway"

i agree, its the girl complicating things. it'd be so much simpler if she could stop being so arrogant and just admit she loves him without leaving first. it creates uneccessary hurt. wow this is sounding familiar.

I think this is about a couple's rocky, yet steady relationship. Their relationship has its ups and downs (like every relationship) but the guy is now expecting a little more from the girl. I think the guy is well aware that the girl is taking their relationship for granted. She says "I love you" without a real thought and he doesn't want that; he wants a meaningful "I love you" from her.

Okay, so to me it sounds like this is the story of a couple who has been married for five years and already they have fallen into the loveless pattern of routine. That is why they say, I never ever want to see you to our wedding day, their anniversary. A lot of couples are like this. They just meander through and are content to be in a stagnant and half-hearted marriage but they still feign excitement and closeness on their anniversary. These two are not content to be so and this is an example of the very human struggle to get away from that kind of life. I get that from it anyway. I dunno. But I think it relates to a wide variety of people, not just married couples or long distance lovers, but also those who are not content to just pretend to care. This is a song for the romantics out there. The ones that cause all the drama and fuss because they long for something real. That is what this song says to me. It's sweet.
