When I was 17 I did what people told me
Did what my father said,
And let my mother mold me
But that was a long ago
I'm in control, never gonna stop
Control, to get what I want
Control, I like to have a lot
Control, now I'm all grown up

First time I fell in love, I didn't know what hit me
So young and so naive, I thought it would be easy
Now I know I got to take
Control, now I've got a lot
Control, to get what I want
Control, never gonna stop
Control, now I'm all grown up

Jam, woo woo
Rebel, that's right
I'm on my own,
I'll call my own shots
Thank you

Got my own mind
I want to make my own decisions
When it has to do with my life, my life
I wanna be the one in control

So let me take you by the hand,
And lead you on this dance (Control)
Is what I've got, because I do with chance
I don't wanna rule the world,
Just wanna run my life (ooh
So make your life a little easier
When you get the chance just take control
Control, now I've got a lot, ooh
Control, to get what I want
Control, never gonna stop
Control, now I'm all grown up, ooh

Free at last
Out here on my own
Ooh ooh ooh yeah, hee
Now control this

Uh control, that's right
Control, career moves
Control, I do what's right for me
Control, and me wants to groove, is that ok?
Yeah, ooh, control

I've got my own mind
Ooh baby
Yeah yeah, yeah yeah
I've got my own mind
Wanna make my own decisions
When it has to do with my life
I wanna be the one in control

Hop to it
I'm in control, and I love it, hahaha, that's right
Now I've got a lot
Now I'm all grown up, ah
I'm in control, uh
I'm in control, ah
I'm in control, uh
Don't make me lose it
Control, control, control
Control, control control, control, control
Control, control

General CommentI think that this song is about being confind from the world by a specific person who wants to completely control your life. Basically he's tried to hide his sorrow through 'the bottles to complete this greif'

General CommentI really dont agree... I think he was rejected by someone he loved and when they rejected him it opened up a ton of anger and rage. And this anger and rage are taking control of him. This is probably my own thought because i always bend songs to work for me.

General CommentI think this song is a mix of what you both said...

I think it's about a man who's "love" broke up with him. It gave him a ton of anger and resent towards her, and it's slowly taking control of him. Though, when he is around her, it's completely hidden. so "He wants to thank her for the tears he cried, the love she gave, and now he wants to show her what he's kept inside (resent) even if it takes complete control of him"

General CommentI think Dark Rider nailed it. I can't believe this song wasn't bigger and more people loved it. After you listen to it, you're just as mad as the guy singing. That's awesome.

General CommentThis is Earshots best song in my opinion because of pure emotion of rage you feel when you listen to this song.

People can look at this song as his "love" caused him pain, but it could be anything that has scarred someone. It could be a person who always picked on you in high school and you are finally getting revenge, or it could be someone who killed someone dear to you...anything to push you over that line into pure emotionless rage...The Punisher comes to mind.

What this song says to me is, you (the person talking) has changed permanently, you are no longer the innocent person you once were. You have become something else, something worse, your anger has turned your world inside out and though you struggle to hide it everyday you wait for that one moment you can let it go on the person (or thing) that caused this change, to once and for all settle the score.

General CommentYou have lost Control of your emotions (Rage, Anger) and now they Control you, hence the name of the song...Control.

    General CommentI agree with M3JustM3.
I do agree that this could be just about anything.
And that the resentment and anger toward that specific something has caused him to just let all his rage out and therefore the rage he has is now controlling him
