Your slim frame
Your eager eyes
And your wild mane
Oh they keep me where I belong
All wrapped up in wrong

You're to blame
For wasted words of sad refrain
Oh let them take me where they may
Believe me when I say

Oh I will be your accident
If you will be my ambulance
I will be your screech and crash if you will be my crutch and cast
I will be your one more time if you will be my one last chance
So fall for me

Your slim frame
Your simple stare
And your wrong wrong name
They keep me where I belong
All strung out in song

While I so tamed
Where we can shoot other vines through your good name
Sip sweet from nights deep wells
And watch are garden swim as our seeds are soaked
While overgrown
You will see
Hearts colors change like leaves

Oh sweet sweet dream fall for me
Fall fast fall free fall for me
Oh I will be your ambulance
If you will be my accident
I will be your screech and crash if you will be my crutch and cast
And I will be your one more time if you will be my one last chance
So sweet dream fall with me
Fall fast fall free fall with me

    Lyric CorrectionWhy so tame?
We could shoot wilder vines through younger veins
Sip slow from night's deep wells
And watch our garden swell, once the seeds are sown
    Wild and overgrown, you'll see
    Hearts' colors change like leaves

General CommentThe fifth verse seems very off to me.

Probably my favorite song on the album. A great extended metaphor/conceit on chaos/death and love.

General CommentPart before the second chorus (can't really call it a verse since the song barely follows the conventional verse-chorus-verse structure)

    ...Why so tame?
We could shoot wonder vines through younger veins
Sip slow from night's deep wells
    And watch our gardens swell
    Once the seeds are soaked
    Wild and overgrown
You'll see heart's colours change like leaves
Oh, sweet, sweet tree, fall for me
Fall fast, fall free, fall for me...

Sad thing is, everybody who reviewed this album - from the Pitchforkmedia to a 13-year-old pimply teenager on - talked about music and music only. Well, almost exclusively. Lyrics get little to no attention. Which is a shame, because they are bloody amazing. Take this song for instance - Auden and Snyder would be jealous. In my humble opinion - gotta remain objective, y'know - 'Ambulance' is one of the better poems about such a trivial subject as unrequited love to be ever put to music. Second "verse" - the one I just retyped - is sheer brilliance. Adebimpe is comparing love to a drug addiction ("shoot wonder vines through younger veins") and a blossoming garden ("watch our gardens swell") at the same time. Extreme, reckless, addictive, destructive pleasure is both contrasted with and complemented by life creation ("once the seeds are soaked"). Isn't that what love is, really, at least in the conventional sense of the word? Contrast continues throughout the chorus: "ambulance/accident", "screech&crash/crutch&cast", swelling gardens and falling trees, injure and healing, destruction and creating...

    Beautiful. Bloody beautiful.

General CommentThis song leaves me breathless everytime i hear it...except its a thousand times better live. i saw them about 5 ft away from me in osaka...the only white guy in the band rips shit up on the mic, beat boxes like ive never heard before but sadly its not on the album...they are amazing live..they put you in some sort of trans with their lyrics, their whole aura and body movements..they are awesome guys too!

General CommentIn the first verse he's singing about him being the destructive things (accident, screech and crash) and the girl (i'm assuming) being the one that fixes things (ambulance, crutch and cast). So at first it's like he's saying that he needs her to help him fix his life and that he could be the drama that her life is lacking. But the the ambulance and accident switch in the last verse, so it just gives the feeling that they complete each other.
The part about wrong name makes me think about Romeo and Juliet, that she's someone that he's not supposed to be with, but I suppose that's pretty far fetched.

    General CommentThis song is haunting.

The song itself is about cheating. As is the whole album. The song is about how great it feels to be with a new woman and how great the experience is. It talks about how "wrong" it is, but ultimately that it's great.

I don't agree with cheating/affairs/adultery I just have heard the song and thought I'd put forth what it's really about. Having had an ex tell me that this is the song he listened to when he cheated/during cheating.
