[Nirvana cover]

She eyes me like a pieces when I am weak
I've been locked inside your Heart-Shaped box for weeks
I've been drawn into your magnet tar pit trap
I wish I could eat your cancer when you turn black

Hey! Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey! Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Your advice

Man-eating orchids forgive no one just yet
Cut myself on angel hair and baby's breath
Broken hymen of your highness I'm left black
Throw down your umbilical noose so I can climb right back

Hey! Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice
Hey! Wait!
I've got a new complaint
Forever in debt to your priceless advice

Your advice

ummm...i dont think it sounds good since its one of Nirvana's songs and it just sounds kinda really werrid when she sings it. She could probably pull off singin another bands song, but nobody can ever really pull off another Nirvana song.

I don't think it sounds nearly as good as Kurt when he sings it but still it sounds alright, not the best though.

Kurt was an amazing vocalist, and sure as hell wasn't overrated, if you read his journal's you'll find that the guy was a friggin genious....

If you cared enough to delve into the dpeths of Kurt's life and see his love hate relationship with Courtney Love you will see that this song is covertly about both LOVE and children with cancer....

as for the nutsack that bitched about nirvana's songs are so easy it took 3 months of playing to figure em out..... try three weeks..... and most of the Emo CRAP thats out there now is nothing more than power chords and screaming..... it's like the Ramones on steroids.......... in girl pants.........

Kurt loved nothing more than songwriting, that's why when he realisedhe had lost the passion for it, he killed himself, seriously read the note, and give him an open mind... I think wonders of amy lee and they do a good job covering the song..... but to say Kurt Cobain is over rated is just stupid......

And one more thing, How in the fuck was Nirvana the downfall of Music???

Let's see; Kurt Cobain starts a band that goes on and breaks the mainstream mold of........................................................................... .........................80's Hair metal, and Micheal Jackson...................... OHH my God!!! how ever will the world ever survive?!?!?!? Oh woe is me and my stupid ass metal bands......

Only to go on and introduce the world to the greatest decade of music ever played.........

A decade which was replaced with............ Good Charlotte........ Silver Chair........ Nickel Back...... and this terrible little movement we like to call EMO....... I have yet to hear talented EMO yet......... that could be because I am judgemental, it still applies....... IMO not one bad song came out of the big main 4 ( Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Nirvana) but more importantly they introduced me to other amazing bands, like Screaming Trees, Mudhoney, Zeppelin, Floyd, the Who,..... the greatest music ever.... and some dipshit who can play 4 chords on his electric guitar dares call Kurt overrated.....??

Look at Dave Grohl.... Foo fighters...... Look at Krist Novoselic......Sweet 75, and Eyes adrift.... amazing bands but not a mainstream hit....

Lump the two of them together with Kurt and you easily have one of the Greatest bands of history......

It isn't even Kurt's "talent" which i will not dispute can lack in aspects.....his voice while not nearly the quality of Amy Lee's voice, emoted any emotion he wanted from indifferent love to pure all out anger to desperate sadness few artists out there now can do that.... but no one can debate that Kurt wasn't dedicated and sincere to his music....... that was his passion writing and performing songs.....

So saying he was underrated shows how stupid you are....

I think Evanescence has very meaningful songs, and they write their own music. So who can blame them for doing some covers? So what? I personally don't like this cover much, just because I don't think phrases like "eat your cancer" should be coming out of Amy's mouth. :) It just sounds odd to me. But I think they did the best they could on this one, and if they liked doing it, then that's great! Go for it, try something new! Fans will still love you even if they don't like one cover you did, and they know that.

I don't get all the Nirvana fans who are saying it's ruined because Ev changed the sound. After listening to both Kurt's and Amy's versions, I think that it's a good cover because it does what a cover's supposed to do: a band takes a song and puts their own spin on it. Sure, Amy changed the sound, but what would be the point of a cover that's identical to the original version? People listen to covers to see how a band takes a song and makes it their own. I also, btw, think that Cake did a good job of this for their I Will Survive cover.

    PS - Don't think I'm bashing Nirvana fans: I'm one myself. =)

And I also appreciate your sincerity to Evanescence and not being a complete jackass, Nirvana Punk.

When i saw this one i thought it was probably quite wrong! But the more i think about it.... it's alright really! Not as good as the Nirvana version PROBABLY but that is just because they sing differently, so not so much "not as good" but different!

shadow, I don't think you fully comprehend music then. Yes, Amy didn't measure up to Kurt. Hell, no one can. But if you're going to let something like that ruin a Nirvana song for you, then you really don't understand music at all.

Shadow its not crap bands (im not saying Ev are crap because im in fact an Ev fan) that ruin clasic songs its crap bands that are completely oblivious to the meaning of a song. (see All Saints - Under The Bridge) Amy and the rest of the band are fans of Nirvana and know the meanings of the songs. Michelle Branch and Destiny's Child just saw them as peviously successful songs they could sing to try and make money.

Also I agree with all of you (apart from shadow) that this song is good but it cant be as good as the original.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
