"Not All Me" as written by and Alanis Morissette....
I rather face all on top of my face
I am the perfect target screen
For your blindly fueled rage
I bare the brunt of your long buried pain
I don't mind helping you out
But I want you to remember my name

It's not all me
It's not all my fault
I need remind you, but I won't take it all on

Past riddled rage
I see the buttons I engage
With my dignity in place
I'm all too happy to switch

Lest I find my voice
Find the strength to stand up to you
Lest I stay to my limit
And only take on what is mine to

We are a team
I'm here to help mend and rescind
All I trigger unknowingly
A job I hold in high esteem

[Chorus: x2]

I'll only take some of it

General CommentThis song is great, like many of her other songs. To me this song is about someone who is in a realtionship with another. One person has been hurt in the past by one or many other people, and ina way blames thier current lover for what happened to him/her. So thier lover is telling them i will help you but you cant keep blaming me...great song...

Lyric CorrectionCouple of mistakes....Should be "I wear their face on top of my face", "I may remind you", "I'm all to happy to assuage", and "I'm here to help mend and reseam".

My InterpretationThis song is about being with a person who still has pain from the past...whether that pain be from past relationships, parents, abandonment, abuse, etc.
Basically, letting them know 'Hey, I understand you have pain. I'm here for you and not against you. I can take some of the crap you do because of it, but I have a limit. And I'm not to blame for that past pain."
