Fool you made the girl fall in love
You said those beautiful things
She thought you spoke things you mean

Caress her skin like it's glass
She hears your voice making plans
And she just breaks in your hands

You don't wanna see somebody beg
As you feel her heart surrender
You begin to fall
How do you say that something's through
When it never even started
At least not for you

You breathe her air and you leave
You keep your mind on yourself
And lie the glass on the shelf
After the heavenly speech
Your body throws holy heat
The angels sing when our eyes meet

It wasn't a lie but it wasn't true
I just wanted to make you feel good
Just wanted you near
I wasn't prepared I wasn't thinking of you
That you could actually love me
It never should have started

She's dreaming back on the past
Every opinion agreed
Doesn't know what to believe

It must have been for a cause
Our lives have so many doors
Don't think about him anymore

But it was the kiss, it took me away
It's like he knew that I am fragile
He handled me like glass
And it hurts but it's what I deserve
Because I should have been more careful
With the others that I handled
I should have been
I should have been
And knowing this I know
That he'll get his
But I don't want the man to suffer
Oh not the way I am
Because deep down I know that he's glass too
But it really doesn't matter
Until it's happening to you
Everybody breaks
Everybody breaks
Sometimes

This is probably my favorite song by Gavin. The lyrics are beautifully written and so eloquent. I really hope that this song makes the next album because it has the potential to be a big hit for him. I think a lot of girls (and ofcourse some guys, too) could really relate to thing song.

The song is pretty straightforward but it is also very unique. I don't know of too many other songs that convey the message this song does.

'Glass' is about being in a situation that is one-sided. The girl has deep feelings for the guy but they are not reciprocated. The guy enjoys the company of the girl but he doesn't love her the same way she loves him. Not many things in life hurt worse than being right next to someone and feeling 1000 miles away... listening to them making plans and not wanting you right there with them.

The message of the song is that you should handle people's feelings like glass... very carefully. You shouldn't lead someone on. As much as you might feel destroyed inside by getting hurt by someone you should know that we are all human. That person is just as fragile as you are and will likely feel that same way at some point in their life. "It doesn't really matter until its happening to you... everybody breaks sometimes."

The cool thing about this song is that Gavin sings it from 3 different perspectives: 3rd person, The girl's point of view, and him as himself. It's a very artisitic and unique song. It's basicly about a guy who is with a girl and then leaves her... I love this song, and I think that a lot of people would enjoy it, if they only knew about it...hopefully some day, this song will get what it deserves!

I think this song is about a girl falling in love with a guy but he doesn't feel the same.

"Dont make a girl fall in love with you, if you dont intend to catch her"

there is a theme of karma in this song at the end when it goes:

it hurts but it's what I deserve because I should have been more careful with the others that I handled

kinda what goes around comes around!

This song leaves me speachless. Gavin Degraw is the by far one of the best lyricists around. This song puts into words what so many of us feel about relationships that end. It's incredible.

I don't understand what he means when he sings "your body throws holy heat" Can someone please explain this to me?

Side note: When he says "every opinion agreed" I always think he's going to say "every pin in the grenade" even though I know what the real lyrics. Weird, huh?

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere. In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
