Winterborn Lyrics
For heaven shall remember the silent and the brave
And promise me they will never see, the fear within our eyes
(my eyes are closed)
We will give strength to those who still remain
And hide the signs of pain
With noble acts, the bravest souls
Endure the heart's remains
Discard regret, that in this debt
A better world is made
That children of a newer day might remember
And avoid our fate
We will be your light
You've asked me for my sacrifice
And I am Winter born
Without denying, a faith is come
That I have never known
I hear the angels call my name
And I am Winter born
Think of the faces of the people you defend
(you defend)
And promise me, they will never see the tears within our eyes
(my eyes are closed)
Although we are men, with mortal sins, angels never cry
And hide the signs of pain
With noble acts, the bravest souls
Endure the heart's remains
Discard regret, that in this debt
A better world is made
That children of a newer day might remember
And avoid our fate
We will be your light
You've asked me for my sacrifice
And I am Winter born
Without denying, a faith in God
That I have never known
I hear the angels call my name
And I am Winter born
I will be your light
A lifetime for this destiny
For I am Winter born
And in this moment..I will not run
It is my place to stand
We few shall carry hope
Within our bloodied hands
(bloodied hands)
And in our Dying, we're more alive-than we have ever been
I've lived for these few seconds
For I am Winter born
We will be the light
You've asked me for my sacrifice
And I am Winter born
Without denying, a faith in man
That I have never known
I hear the angels call my name
And I am Winter born
I am for you, though better men have failed
I will give my life for love
For I am Winter born
And in my dying
I'm more alive, than I have ever been
I will make this sacrifice
For I am Winter born

This song means a rebirth into a higher callling... one with a purpose... one that makes all failures and wrongdoings exempt from his soul

I think that higher calling is to die nobly in a doomed battle.

I think this song is about being misunderstood and different. But still be proud of that.
Dry your eyes and quietly bear this pain with pride
This song is great and means the world to me. It's quite amazing that anyone can write this kind of poetry.

it's definately about falling in battle, though i wouldn't say a doomed battle it's more about givoing your life so that those you love and even those you've ever met can have a better future, to lose everything for others
"discard regret, that in this debt a better world is made the children of a newer day might remember and avoid our fate"
this song is about the ultimate scrifice

eternityawaits: I can definately see that. I saw them a few days ago, and he did look like he had a little too much confidence in himself. U couldn't get it out of my head how much he looked like the Boy George looking guy from The Wedding Singer.
This, however, is my favorite Cruxshadows song and the one that got me into them.

I think this song is saying that you may be different but it doesn't matter. That people may put you down but that it doesn't matter. Suck the poison out of the wound...

I love this song. For some reason i keep thinking of Lord of The Rings when i hear it.

soundws like this song is about all the people who are different and battle with the society for acceptance, like jesus and with their suffering and strength they create a better world for the new generation of stand-outs, im guessing

It's actually about the fall of troy, from the perspective of a trojan. The entire Ethernaut album relates to the battle of troy and the people that fought in it. But songs like Cassandra and Citadel make more blatant references than this one.

I agree with Valduran; the entire album is related to Troy (all their albums are related to previous events in history if you listen closely). The first time I heard Winterborn though it made me think of WWI, fighting in the trenches basically because of this:
"That children of a newer day might remember And avoid our fate"
Everyone hoped that WWI would be the war to end all wars, and we've said for so many years that both WWI and WWII should never be forgotten and never be repeated.
"And in the fury of this darkest hour We will be your light"
Both WWI and WWII were considered modern history's darkest hours.
