Sometimes Jacks Rule The Realm Lyrics
Can’t you tell
The swimmers drown
Without a sound
A chalkboard scratching sound
Could craze the town
An emperor's clothes
Never be exposed
Regardless what they meant
It could have been innocent
Spent, so spent
Railing against undeserved
Dangling precipitants
Raining down idiots
Always flapping in the
Flapping in the wind
No matter what they meant
Could have been belligerent
Could have been half percent
Could have been wanting
Afraid to have been caught promising
Ended up taunting me
I can’t change
I can’t change that
I can’t change
Not sure what’s true
Life can be so cruel
There’s nothing you can do
But it fades...
Only to return
I feel your eyes burn
I really am concerned
Sometimes jealousy will dwell
You can’t begin to dispel
When you can not even tell
And why am I asking you
What makes me act the way I do
And why am I asking you
What makes me act the way I do
And why am I asking you
Sometimes jealousy will dwell
You can’t begin to dispel
When you can not even tell
Sometimes jacks will rule the realm
Sometimes jealousy will dwell
You can’t begin to dispel
When you can not even tell

Are you kidding me? No one has commented on this of all of their songs. This is one of the best. Its about how sometimes in life nice guys finish last and the jerks win.
I always felt like this song was referring to the G.W. Bush presidency.

i agree with sk8nfool13, its how life isnt always fair "swimmers drown without a sound, a chalkboard scratching sound could craze the town" somthing small like the sound of a chalkboard could anger you, or displease you, but in this day and age swimmers drown without a sound

I agree with both, great song about life. basically stating, you never know what can happen. Sometimes being the nicest wont get you the furthest.

definitely a good think-about-it song, and great lyrics. my favorite part though is the hidden extra piece right after this....... just awesome.

I'm really feeling this song right now. Not sure why. I'm going to learn this song on my guitar. It's absolutely beautiful. Long Live 311!

its weird how this song changes its feel 3 times in 6 minutes but somehow it works. the first parts my favorite but it is an awesome song altogether

yea i like when it switches beat around three minutes into the song

The Hidden track is called "Coda" it was written by P-Nut, again another amazing track.

This song to me illustrates a vague emotion of helplessness that occurs when you feel that things aren't going your way mentally and causes you to feel that things aren't working in your favor. The fact that Nick Hexum creates this mood through his lyrics is beautiful, and is enough to uplift you in the sense that you aren't alone in feeling such a way.
After expressing the emotions in a more solemn way, the song turns completely around and illustrates the same ideas, but with a more positive beat. This signifies that you can easily change your perception of these ideas into something positive. At the same time, other lyrics such as "What makes me act the way I do? Why Am I asking you" describes how you should mold the positivity into what suits you the best, as no one is the same, no one has the exact same thought process. So it isnt clear cut, but its possible.
@souljamike interesting take. Now are you sure this is the meaning behind the lyrics, or is this what YOU believe to be the message behind the words? Btw that is a rhetorical question....
