God you must be kidding me, thought this was supposed to be
The home of the brave and the free for you and me
But now there's something wrong - shit's been going on too long.
It's never gonna change, there's no way i say.
What's the CIA and the NRA?
They're all the same - just the names are changed.
Fuck - there's no excuse - any way you lose.
It's all a joke in the god old USA.
All we need is more factories pumping filth into the sky.
Corporate greed and perverted priests, it's the story of our lives.
And apathy's the national disease and there is no end in sight.
God save the USA - blame the president and say your prayers tonight.
The irony of liberty is no one here is truly free
When elections are stolen bij the G.O.P.
So watch the nightly news - find out how you are getting screwed.
What you gonna do? - there's no use i say
Fuck the industry - the aristocracy
Fuck they're all the same - just the names are changed.
Fuck ther's no excuse, any way you lose.
It's all a joke in the good old USA.
Government hypocrisy -American Idolatry - Corporate philosophy.
Nightly news of tragedies - Whre no one cares what's right or wrong
Our heroes now are all long gone - The freedoms that we all abuse
The obituaries front page news

Honest2afault is Stupid2thenthdegree. When they say "blame the President and say your prayers tonight" it's not hard to pick out the IRONY there. The pinot that they're making is not that it's his fault and that's the bottom line, it's that if all you do is say that it's all his fault and then go on with your life, it's your fault as well. Somebody else screwing something up doesn't absolve everyone else of their own responsibility. That means that if you're not trying to make your country a better place (by your inability to spell the word 'leftist', i'm assuming you're American, but this applies to everyone) then it doesn't help to just criticise others who are screwing things up.

For Example: H2AF decided to call this 'Leftist Propaganda' (after a spell-check). And what's he done about that? He hasn't explained anything, he hasn't suggested any other point of view, any solution, he hasn't pointed out any flaws in the views expressed, he hasn't injected anything of relevant to proceedings ... he hasn’t even used the ‘Shift’-key. All he’s done is been a bitch. I hope you’re not named after the At the Drive-In song, cos Omar, Cedric, Jim, et al would probably be embarrassed to have such a stupid fan. Please think before you post something.

Standing On The Edge Of Summer
Thursday
In regards to the meaning of this song: Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.” That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.

Holiday
Bee Gees
@[Diderik:33655] "Your a holiday!" Was a popular term used in the 50s/60s to compliment someone on their all around. For example, not only are they beautiful, but they are fun and kind too ... just an all around "holiday". I think your first comment is closer to being accurate. The singer/song writers state "Millions of eyes can see, yet why am i so blind!? When the someone else is me, its unkind its unkind". I believe hes referring to the girl toying with him and using him. He wants something deeper with her, thats why he allows himself to be as a puppet (even though for her fun and games) as long as it makes her happy. But he knows deep down that she doesnt really want to be serious with him and thats what makes him.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,
