In regards to the meaning of this song:
Before a live performance on the EP Five Stories Falling, Geoff states “It’s about the last time I went to visit my grandmother in Columbus, and I saw that she was dying and it was the last time I was going to see her. It is about realizing how young you are, but how quickly you can go.”
That’s the thing about Geoff and his sublime poetry, you think it’s about one thing, but really it’s about something entirely different. But the lyrics are still universal and omnipresent, ubiquitous, even. So relatable. That’s one thing I love about this band. I also love their live performances, raw energy and Geoff’s beautiful, imperfectly perfect vocals. His voice soothes my aching soul.
And here I stand
I find myself alone again
The miles I've walked
Loss of hope and loss of friends
Yet I keep on running
And I won't look back
The waters rise
You never know just where they're at
The waters turn
Yeah, yeah
The hardships we endure
Yeah, yeah
You ain't the only son
Or forgotten daughter
We have drowned in blackened waters
The sun has set
The endless stream where nothing lasts
Forever damned
Today, tomorrow, and all the past
Yet I keep on running
And I won't look back
The waters rise
You never know just where they're at
The waters turn
Yeah, yeah
The hardships we endure
Yeah, yeah
You ain't the only son
Or forgotten daughter
We have drowned in blackened waters
The waters turn
Yeah yeah
The hardships we endure
Yeah, yeah
You ain't the only son
Or forgotten daughter
We are drowned
I find myself alone again
The miles I've walked
Loss of hope and loss of friends
Yet I keep on running
And I won't look back
The waters rise
You never know just where they're at
The waters turn
Yeah, yeah
The hardships we endure
Yeah, yeah
You ain't the only son
Or forgotten daughter
We have drowned in blackened waters
The sun has set
The endless stream where nothing lasts
Forever damned
Today, tomorrow, and all the past
Yet I keep on running
And I won't look back
The waters rise
You never know just where they're at
The waters turn
Yeah, yeah
The hardships we endure
Yeah, yeah
You ain't the only son
Or forgotten daughter
We have drowned in blackened waters
The waters turn
Yeah yeah
The hardships we endure
Yeah, yeah
You ain't the only son
Or forgotten daughter
We are drowned

Son Şansın - Şarkı Sözleri
Hayalperest
Hayalperest
This song seemingly tackles the methods of deception those who manipulate others use to get victims to follow their demands, as well as diverting attention away from important issues. They'll also use it as a means to convince people to hate or kill others by pretending acts of terrorism were committed by the enemy when the acts themselves were done by the masters of control to promote discrimination and hate. It also reinforces the idea that these manipulative forces operate in various locations, infiltrating everyday life without detection, and propagate any and everywhere.
In general, it highlights the danger of hidden agendas, manipulation, and distraction, serving as a critique of those who exploit chaos and confusion to control and gain power, depicting a cautionary tale against falling into their traps. It encourages us to question the narratives presented to us and remain vigilant against manipulation in various parts of society.

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.

How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
I'm the first? This is an amazing song! Fucking rocks! As far as I can figure, it's quite simply about all the bullshit life throws at you, and sucking it up and taking it all.
This song is completely bomb ass. I constantly find myself listening to this song over and over and over. I agree this song is about all this shit that comes with living on this fucking planet.
Really great song... The solo kicks major ass...
I love this song. The greatest black label society song in my opinion. Excellent solo.
I Agree Zakk Does A Great Solo As Great As The Song Berserkers
I think he got the idea from the black water that collects in a rain filled ashtray. Its so discusting to see whats going into your body but u keep smoking anyways. Therefore its almost like your drowning in the "blackened water"
You start out with family supporting you and then some of them get caught up in the blackened waters. They change, lose their way or support, become damned, or die. You continue on with a strong desire to move foreward. You keep on going with a bit of a guard not sure who the people you can trust are. People will come and go and people will try to fuck you over along the way, even your family- forgotten son or daughter. Eventually the filth of the earth will drown us all. I do think this song has a huge feeling that parents give up on their kids and don't support them. That relationship is tainted/blackened forever. Very powerful song even without lyrics
I think this song speaks to alcoholism. " i find myself alone again... the loss of hope and the loss of friends" happens to alot of us. Feeling like a forgotton son or daughter because everyone turns their backs on you. The crazy shit we are forced to endure. It all started out as fun and good times and at some point it turns on you, becomes nothing but hardship and battles to get more, just to stop the shakes. Being an addict in recovery... kinda just sounds like it to me. Its fitting from heroin to alcohol. But kniwing zakk is an alcoholic. Id assume Its more based in that.
