She moves so slowly
Like a lover's breath
Hoping I can hold it down and stand
But the aches and shakes don't seem to let up
I got so many questions
She got all the answers for me now
Oh I don't believe it
No I don't believe her now

One more hope for tomorrow
One more kiss to forget you
Just what will bring us down
Keeps us together remembering
It's so easy to forget

She moves so slowly
Like a lover's breath
Hopin' I can tear down the walls and breathe
But I never knew
Oh what this girl could get into
I got so many questions
She got all the answers for me now
Oh I can't believe her
No I don't believe her now

One more hope for tomorrow
One more kiss to forget you
Just what will bring us down
Keeps us together remembering
It's so easy to forget

When I'm inside her I don't think twice
When she's in my blood you know it feels so nice
Shakin' in the morning like I been kicked all night
Sneaky sneaky serpent with those tricks up your sleeve
Lips like licorice but you can't catch me
Deep between the covers listening to hearts beat
Till defent and surrender of what's being covered up
Cause I don't want to give up what's little left of my luck
So many oppurtunities that are boarded up
And deftly put away
Oh you move so slowly I can't even feel it movin'

She moves so slowly, I just can't feel it now
She moves so slowly, I just can't see her now

General Commentthey do have a bit of a ska/raggae kinda sound like the police yeah. This song rules, but i can't put my finger on its meaning. I can't help thinking its about heroin, firstly because of the title's similarity with "chasing the dragon" - a phrase used to describe taking heroin. Also the lyrics suggest this, particularly lines like
"When she's in my blood you know it feels so nice
Shakin' in the morning like I been kicked all night "

I think it has to be at least partly about this..?

General CommentIt totally makes sense that this would be about heroin, about fighting the addiction & that 'one more time'.

It could still be about something else though, even if heroin seems like the most prominent choice.

General CommentThis song is a very blatant remark to an heroin addiction.

"One more kiss to forget you" seems to be remarking on how the only way to think about your drug of choice is to be using it. Same with the line "it's so easy to forget." If he just takes some more, he'll forget it all.

    "She moves so slowly
    Like a lover's breath
Hopin' I can tear down the walls and breathe
    But I never knew
Oh what this girl could get into" makes me think of how he started doing heroin not realizing just what kind of relationship that he was entering to, and that now, even when he wants to break free "she" has an unbelievable stranglehold on him. He never realized how addictive heroin would become.

The stanza that begins with "When I'm inside her I don't think twice" basically summarizes the whole addiction. It draws him and seduces him, and heroin is this total experience "when she's in my blood you know it feels so nice" but when he's sober he realizes just what a miserable state his life is in. Even with such a realization, he's willing to do anything for that fix, the only "good" thing in his life "cause I don't wanna give up what's little left of my luck" and so he just keeps going with it.

A total addiction song. And it's about heroin, because the serpent/dragon reference is spot on for heroin.

General CommentThe lyrics above are slightly wrong, and the bit that's missed out is really important as it changes the whole meaning of that part of the song. In the CD booklet the lyrics for the bit after the 'sneaky sneaky serpent with those tricks up your sleeve" are:

"Lips like licorice but you can't catch me, deep between the covers listening to *her heart's beat*, yeah"

I know it doesn't sound like that's what he sings, but that's what it says!

SO i would interpret that line as saying that when he's with his girlfriend it's the only time he doesn't want heroin ('...but you can't catch me'). also this fits in with the line 'when i'm inside her I don't think twice' - meaning when they're together he doesn't need heroin - this line doesn't make sense with regards to heroin, as it would have to be 'when she's inside me' surely??

that bit changes the whole meaning of the song to something a bit more positive, saying that love can overcome addiction/is just as powerful as addiction. or something.

agree that the rest of the 'she' references in the song are metaphors for heroin though.
