I've been down this road once or twice before
Through the open door
I come falling through it
There's a sign post up ahead
Like a watershed
And it opens my eyes
Ways, for me to begin
To be born again
And knowing for the first time
Ways, all so differently
Shine for me to see
The better man that I am

I've been places in my head
Behind me worse than what's ahead
And on my path just like a dream
Takes me from the in between
From out of nowhere you came strong as stone
And now I'll never have to be alone
What it is I know

You have always been my safe home
I walk, I run, I burn out into you
You have always been my safe home
My whole world has moved on

I know what I am and I'll always be
Your reality, is better than I could dream
All my fears turn from black to white
And I'd stand and fight
The whole world for you
Faith, and destiny
I never did believe
My only God is love and
Faith, what I see in you
And I can hold it true
Like a weight in my hand.

    Song Meaning

This song is about coming to faith in Christ clearly mentioning being born again and that God is Love and Faith. He is our safe home.

this song to me is basically summing up life...its like an elderly person relaying on what he did, who he encountered and how he dealt with each of these...however, it relates to someone/thing "You have have always been my safe home" I think that Anthrax have excelled themselves with this song

Wow, the first time I heard this song was about 4 or 5 years ago on a Sattelite Music station at my friends house. I had to DL this as soon as I got home, and proceeded to buy the rest of the CD, which is amazing! This song is one of my all time favorites, gives me chills, the music and guitar are amazing, cant sasy enough about it. The lyrics, they seem pretty straight forward. This song seems like its describing someones passion, inspiration, and or love for someone or somethin, AKA Jesus. Now, I'm not the most holy person, but I have been goin to Catholic schools since I was 7. Anyway, at the beginning, it seems like a person reflecting on their past life, what they did right or wrong, and then all of the sudden: "There's a sign post up ahead Like a watershed And it opens my eyes" -Makes me think of a person that you can trust, can help you out, and its obvious this person (Jesus, God?) is meant to be in your life. "Ways . . . to be born again And KNOWING for the first time Ways, all so differently Shine for me to see The better man that I am" -This part seems to emphasise my last idea, this person enlightens them, maybe in a mental, or spiritual sense. Ways to be born again most likely means to start a new life; have your sins forgiven once you were enlightened to Jesus, or whoever. "I've been places in my head Behind me worse than what's ahead" -So now, this person is thinking about their past, what theyve done or thought that was wrong, and "whats ahead" is saying now that theyve accepted Jesus, or found this new inspiration, their future looks bright. "And on my path just like a dream Takes me from the inbetween" Now, the person is on the path to Heaven, via their accepting of Christ, and this path leads them between temptations and distractions of the world. "From out of nowhere you came strong as stone And now I'll never have to be alone" -Here, the God appears to them straight forward in a time of dyer need, and will always be there to support them "What it is I know You have always been my safe home I walk, I run, I burn out into you" -The person is admitting that Jesus has always been with him, but he was unaware of it, and everything he does, Jesus knows, and he should serve Jesus in turn.(?) "You have always been my safe home My whole world has moved on" Again, Jesus has always been there for them, but since he is aware of this, his life has turned around, and become a new person. "I know what i am and I'll always be Your reality, is better than I could dream" The person is acknowledging their mortality and imperfections, and admitting that only God is perfect. "All my fears turn from black to white And i'd stand and fight The whole world for you" So, now this ties into how Jesus/God helps them understand his fears, which are important or not, and in turn this person is going to serve God and worship him for all that hes done. "Faith, and destiny I never did believe" This person never believed in faith or destiny (going to Heaven) before he met God "My only god is love and Faith, what I see in you And I can hold it true Like a weight in my hand." -I like this alot because it makes the analogy of object that has no material or physical value (faith) and compares it to a weight, something you can feel and touch. He's saying now that he believes in Jesus, his faith is real, and the mutual love is a product of this faith. At least, this is how I interpret it.

What I forgot to add in the last time, in the first part, this song reminds me of many TooL songs (Stinkfist, Lateralus, and The Patient) and Pearl Jam songs (Black, Alive, Elderly Woman, Yellow Ledbetter) where the lyrics and music compliment eachother so well that it gives you that tingly feel. Anthrax did amazing on this song, and personally think that the style of this album is WAY better than their stuff from the 80's-mid 90's.

I've found two possible meanings: One is perhaps the song is be about finding your perfect partner. This person completes you in so many ways and you wonder how you ever lived without them.

Also, it could be about moving on from the death of a loved one and the memory/spirit of them is stronger than the physical being.

Eh, either way, a great song. Crap video though, haha.

I'm gathering it's about someone who makes you feel content & shields you from the cold, hard world. Could be a parent, guardian, spirit or a lover.

I feel like it's all about finding someone be it a friend, comrade, lover, or anyone else who is your support who strives to keep you on your feet and you look up to them. Powerful song. Man you gotta love when the guitars kick up near the end so tantalizing. :)

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

The Night We Met
Lord Huron
This is a hauntingly beautiful song about introspection, specifically about looking back at a relationship that started bad and ended so poorly, that the narrator wants to go back to the very beginning and tell himself to not even travel down that road. I believe that the relationship started poorly because of the lines: "Take me back to the night we met:When the night was full of terrors: And your eyes were filled with tears: When you had not touched me yet" So, the first night was not a great start, but the narrator pursued the relationship and eventually both overcame the rough start to fall in love with each other: "I had all and then most of you" Like many relationships that turn sour, it was not a quick decline, but a gradual one where the narrator and their partner fall out of love and gradually grow apart "Some and now none of you" Losing someone who was once everything in your world, who you could confide in, tell your secrets to, share all the most intimate parts of your life, to being strangers with that person is probably one of the most painful experiences a person can go through. So Painful, the narrator wants to go back in time and tell himself to not even pursue the relationship. This was the perfect song for "13 Reasons Why"

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Midnight
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms. “Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
