There's a darkening sky before me
There's no time to prepare
Salvage a last horizon
But no regrets from me

Maybe I'll be back some other day
To live again just who can say
In what shape or form that I might be
Just another chance for me

A hurried time, no disgrace
Instead of racing to conclusion
Wishing all my life away
No one can stop me now

Time is up, it couldn't last
But there's more things I'd like to do
I'm coming back to try again
Someday maybe I'll wait 'til then

No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies

They're all sitting at my table
Talking tall and drinking wine
Their time is up just like me
But they just don't know it yet

So just a word of warning
When you're in your deepest dreams
There's nothing you can hide from
I've got my eye on you

The clock is fast, the hour is near
Eventful past is ever clear
My life is set, the time is here
I think I'm coming home

No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies

A hurried time, no disgrace
Instead of racing to conclusions
Wishing all your life away
No one can stop me now

Time is up, it couldn't last
But there's more things I have to do
I'm coming back to try again
Don't tell me that this is the end

No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies
No more lies

This is one of my favorite songs of all time, as are several other Maiden songs! This song really helped me through a hard part of my life, which is still going on, sort of.

Quite recently my girlfriend broke up with me, not for anything I did wrong, or so she says, but because she's still in love with her old boyfriend and thinks she got into a new relationship too soon. She said that she wants to break up so that she can focus on school and the upcoming exams and be under less emotional and mental stress. I unhappily obliged as I didn't want to make things harder on her and I also wanted to focus on school. One day, near the end of the year, I was sitting in a Geography lesson, a double lesson in fact, bored out of my skull. I decided to listen to some music to make the tedious lecture about wave cut notches and hydraulic action that we've all had carved into our minds before a little less torturous, so I got out my phone, plugged in my earphones, and listened to some Maiden. It was on the shuffle setting so i wasn't quite sure what songs would come on in what order. It must have been about 15 minutes until the end of the lesson when this song came on, at first I was only half paying attention because of the fascinating talk about receding coastlines, but I noticed that the song was speaking to me.

"Maybe i'll be back some other day To live again just who can say In what shape or form that I might be Just another chance for me"

She said to me when we broke up that maybe we could get back together after the exams, after she'd cleared her head. Maybe after exams I could be back To live again As a friend or more than that To have another chance

"Time is up it couldn't last But there's more things I'd like to do I'm coming back to try again Someday maybe I'll wait till then No more lies"

Those words made me think about the time we spent together and how it didn't last very long and how I had a lot of stuff planed for us, and that after everything's taken care of, I could come back to try to be with her again. And that all I had to do was wait. The rest of the song made me think more about the future.

"The clock is fast, the hour is near Eventful past is ever clear My life is set, my time is here I think I'm coming home"

This song gave me hope and reassurance when I was at my lowest and most depressed, it really helped me gather up the pieces of my life to focus on school and studying, well, apart from that geography lesson. Me and her have started talking again and after the exams are over, i hope to rekindle our relationship to make it stronger than ever before. Well, that's what this song meant to me, which is a hell-of-a-lot. I owe this song, and Iron Maiden, my life. It helped me pull myself to my feet and get my life and priorities sorted out. Thank you Maiden, for everything.

Like a lot of other Maiden songs this one seems to have some reincarnation ideas, I agree the Jesus theory is possible but a lot of Maiden songs are hard to figure out.

    It's definitely not about Jesus.

There are some connections you can attempt to draw, but the vast majority of the lyrics are next to impossible to reasonably connect to Jesus. Jesus knew he was coming back, and it was all apart of his plan. The lyrics in this suggest that the narrator is unsure what's about to come and only hopes to someday return to correct their past life.

To me it sounds like someone who is dying (be it through illness or suicide). He knows his time is up, and now he's sitting around thinking about what's about to come, and what might come after he has passed. The constant chanting of "NO MORE LIES!" Could be someone thinking, "You know what... my time is up. I get to see what it's all about. There'll be no more lies."

As for "There time is up/just like me." I don't think it's a forboding threat of murder... I think it's a person realizing that everyone reaches an end at some point, and although there are more things you'd like to do, you've sometimes got to accept the inevitable.

Also, tehnoobshow... Brave New World was the first album after their reunion with Bruce and Adrian Smith.

I can see what Master Lord Santa is saying, but i dont think thats what its about. It seems too ordinary for a Maiden song. I have always felt that it is about the last days of Jesus (i actually don't believe in jesus, but thats what the song seems to be about) "Time is up it couldn't last But there's more things I'd like to do I'm coming back to try again Someday maybe I'll wait till then " seems to refer to the ressurection; " They're all sitting at my table/Talking tall and drinking wine "seems to refer to the apostles at the last supper; "My life is set, the time is here/ I think I'm coming home" seems to refer to his ascension to heaven and his return to god, his father.

Great song. One of the best on the album thats for sure.

I don't think its about alcoholism per se but lying to yourself...

    about what I'm not sure...

It may or may not be something specific but I don't get alcoholism from the lyrics....

I don't think its about alcoholism, I don't think it's about Jesus xD I think its not as "deep" as you think, its propably abput an old relationship with a girl or something like this...

"They're all sitting at my table Talking tall and drinking wine Their time is up just like me But they just don't know it yet "

I'm not sure what it's about, it's fantastic, and it's definetly the coolest song from "Dance of Death". Iron Maiden rock.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
