This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
love's the funeral of hearts
an ode for cruelty
when angels cry blood
on flowers of evil in bloom
The funeral of hearts
And a plea for mercy
When love is a gun
Separating me from you
She was the sun
Shining upon
The tomb of your hopes and dreams so frail
He was the moon
Painting you
With it's glow so vulnerable and pale
Love's the funeral of hearts
And an ode for cruelty
When angels cry blood
On flowers of evil in bloom
The funeral of hearts
And a plea for mercy
When love is a gun
Separating me from you
She was the wind, carrying in
All the troubles and fears you've for years tried to forget
He was the fire, restless and wild
And you were like a moth to that flame
The heretic seal beyond divine
A prayer to a god who's deaf and blind
The last rites for souls on fire
Three little words and a question, why?
Love's the funeral of hearts
And an ode for cruelty
When angels cry blood
On flowers of evil in bloom
The funeral of hearts
And a plea for mercy
When love is a gun
Separating me from you
an ode for cruelty
when angels cry blood
on flowers of evil in bloom
The funeral of hearts
And a plea for mercy
When love is a gun
Separating me from you
She was the sun
Shining upon
The tomb of your hopes and dreams so frail
He was the moon
Painting you
With it's glow so vulnerable and pale
Love's the funeral of hearts
And an ode for cruelty
When angels cry blood
On flowers of evil in bloom
The funeral of hearts
And a plea for mercy
When love is a gun
Separating me from you
She was the wind, carrying in
All the troubles and fears you've for years tried to forget

Separating me from you

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.
First... H.I.M 's so freaking great! now... i really think this song is about a third person in the relationship. I mean, he or she is in love the boy or the girl, like, really in love... but he/she is just a friend or is even meaningless. I think of this because sometimes Ville sings "He" and "She" and then "you". i think it says that the boy or the girl was everything and was perfect for the third one, but they will be never be together, because the love of the couple separate them and this is destroying the third person. Also, perhabs he/she is friends with the couple of the beloved one... and this is more heartbreaking. Cheers!
I think you're right:<br /> <br /> "He was the moon<br /> Painting you<br /> With it's glow so vulnerable and pale"<br /> <br /> Now, let's stick a coma in there:<br /> <br /> "He was the moon<br /> Painting you with it's glow,<br /> so vulnerable and pale"<br /> <br /> <br /> I think verses are sung by the narrator and chorus by this... 3rd person.<br /> <br /> Plus, "A prayer to a god who's deaf and blind", this 3rd person is praying and maybe making vudu to get him/ her<br /> <br /> "Three little words ["I love him/her"?], and a question, why?[why im still loving him/her, knowing nothing's to be done?]"<br /> <br /> Maybe its just my interpretation, because right now, I feel very much related to this song, though I think its accurate.
@lizawillkillyou Bouncing off of this one. "She" may be this person you're talking about that's only seen as a friend. And "he" is the new 'beloved one'.<br /> There is something about "her" that reminds that main character, "you", of their past and the pain and possible trauma from then. My guess is she is an old friend of the main character (I'll start using MC for short). There is a possibility that she wants to help MC by trying to get them to open up about the pain they feel ["she was the wind, carrying in/all the troubles and fears you've for years tried to forget"] and try to get them to follow their old dreams that are now buried ["she was the sun shining upon/the tomb of your hopes and dreams so frail"], but MC doesn't want to relive the past.<br /> Then comes this guy that MC hasn't met before. He's reckless and exciting ["he was the fire, reckless and wild"] and MC is drawn to him and his energy "like a moth to that flame". There is a chance that this man makes them feel like a kid again ["he was the moon painting you/with it's glow so vulnerable and pale"].<br /> There is a chance MC feels they will be better off with him because he is a new spirit that makes them feel alive and helps them forget their past. The old friend may feel hurt because she's loved and cared for MC this whole time and now she may feel MC is pushing her away because they don't want to remember the pain they felt.
