I miss you
I miss being overwhelmed by you
And I need rescue
I think I'm fading away
But I keep thinking that you'll wake me up with a whisper in my ear
I keep hoping that you'll sneak in my room
So I wait and I wait
And I run old scenes through my tired head
Of the days we laid by the school and said forever
Was that the best I'll ever be
I miss you
I miss talking all night long with you
And I need this to find a way to your home
My love can you hear me
Have I been hoping loud enough, wishing hard enough
Can you see me when I'm asleep all alone - alone
So I wait and I wait
And I run myself in the same old circles
I sit and I stare
And I run old scenes through my tired head
Of the days that we laid by the school and said forever
Was that the best I'll ever be
Can't keep my hands from shaking
Stumbling through the wreckage again
But you're gone
So I wait and I wait
And I run myself in the same old circles
And I sit and I stare
And I run old scenes through my tired head
Of the days that we laid on our backs and said forever
Was that the best I'll ever be
Was that the best I'll ever be
Was that the best I'll ever be
I miss being overwhelmed by you
And I need rescue
I think I'm fading away
But I keep thinking that you'll wake me up with a whisper in my ear
I keep hoping that you'll sneak in my room
So I wait and I wait
And I run old scenes through my tired head
Of the days we laid by the school and said forever
Was that the best I'll ever be
I miss you
I miss talking all night long with you
And I need this to find a way to your home
My love can you hear me
Have I been hoping loud enough, wishing hard enough
Can you see me when I'm asleep all alone - alone
So I wait and I wait
And I run myself in the same old circles
I sit and I stare
And I run old scenes through my tired head
Of the days that we laid by the school and said forever
Was that the best I'll ever be
Can't keep my hands from shaking
Stumbling through the wreckage again
But you're gone
So I wait and I wait
And I run myself in the same old circles
And I sit and I stare
And I run old scenes through my tired head
Of the days that we laid on our backs and said forever
Was that the best I'll ever be
Was that the best I'll ever be
Was that the best I'll ever be

I use to play this on repeat in Seventh grade [i'm a senior now].
It makes me sad, and it also makes me think about old relationships :/
Ohh, Sister Hazel is Love.
it could be about someone who is missing someone who has died, or a break up. it is looking back on memories of how times used to be and things have drastically changed.
or, thinking about it, it is like me and my best friend. i had this guy best friend once and he was in love with me and when he finally got over me, he didn't talk to me at all. so our friendship was ruined. and i can relate to this song because i always look back on what we did together and it's amazing. and now he is not in my life anymore, i have to wonder-was he the one who made me the best i'll ever be?
Oh I miss you
I miss talking all night long with you yeah
i totally relate to that line. yeah, this song is fantastically brilliant. but, at the same time makes me cry loads...amazing song writers and an amazing band xx
How many of us have been in a relationship where we feel overwhelmed and it's overbearing. Then when it's actually over, we even miss the things that got on our nerves.
Ken Block has used the split with a very serious partner as fuel for many songs - especially in the albums Fortress and Chasing Daylight. He used to comment that he conceived "Champagne High" while at this woman's wedding reception before it's played live.
His brother Jeffrey, with whom he was very close with, passed away from cancer when he (Ken) was 20.
This song - especially the piano version - is absolutely heart wrenching. Sister Hazel has a number of songs over the years that really say exactly what a lot of people feel after hardship and tragedy. Great music for rebounding.
