I miss you
I miss being overwhelmed by you
And I need rescue
I think I'm fading away
But I keep thinking that you'll wake me up with a whisper in my ear
I keep hoping that you'll sneak in my room

So I wait and I wait
And I run old scenes through my tired head
Of the days we laid by the school and said forever
Was that the best I'll ever be

I miss you
I miss talking all night long with you
And I need this to find a way to your home
My love can you hear me
Have I been hoping loud enough, wishing hard enough
Can you see me when I'm asleep all alone - alone

So I wait and I wait
And I run myself in the same old circles
I sit and I stare
And I run old scenes through my tired head
Of the days that we laid by the school and said forever
Was that the best I'll ever be

Can't keep my hands from shaking
Stumbling through the wreckage again
But you're gone

So I wait and I wait
And I run myself in the same old circles
And I sit and I stare
And I run old scenes through my tired head
Of the days that we laid on our backs and said forever
Was that the best I'll ever be
Was that the best I'll ever be
Was that the best I'll ever be

General CommentThis is absolutely my all time favorite song, ever.

I use to play this on repeat in Seventh grade [i'm a senior now].

It makes me sad, and it also makes me think about old relationships :/

    Ohh, Sister Hazel is Love.

General CommentThis song is about a relationship that has been split apart, either emotionally or physically, and the guy just simply misses her and how attached he was to her. I completely relate, it always makes me cry. :(

General CommentThis song is obviously about a girl that he loved but is now gone. She seems to be a girl that was not only an old flame, but possibly a friend (or romance) that he knew from a very young age. Initially i would say that she is gone due to a breakup, but the bridege is a bit tricky, Taken literally, he could be looking through actual wreackage, his hands shaking with anticipation lookin for some sign of her. Or, it could be symbolic of the wreckage of his life since she left.

General CommentYeah, this song's meaning is pretty obvious...oh man, the way he sings it, with his voice kind of shaky just gives me chills--makes me so sad! I LOVE SINGING WITH THIS SONG....even though I'm not a guy...

General Commentthis song can be interpreted by many things.
it could be about someone who is missing someone who has died, or a break up. it is looking back on memories of how times used to be and things have drastically changed.
or, thinking about it, it is like me and my best friend. i had this guy best friend once and he was in love with me and when he finally got over me, he didn't talk to me at all. so our friendship was ruined. and i can relate to this song because i always look back on what we did together and it's amazing. and now he is not in my life anymore, i have to wonder-was he the one who made me the best i'll ever be?

    Oh I miss you
I miss talking all night long with you yeah

i totally relate to that line. yeah, this song is fantastically brilliant. but, at the same time makes me cry loads...amazing song writers and an amazing band xx

General CommentA relationship that's broken up for some reason, and the girl's not around anymore/isn't talking to him. The guy can't stop thinking through their relationship and wondering if it ever gets any better than that, if that girl didn't make him the best he'll ever be. He's waiting for her to come back to him but he knows it's not going to happen for whatever reason, so it's just him and his memories. My ex sent me this and a few other songs on the album - we broke up when we went to university - and this song made me cry so much when I first heard it. I guess just because it reminds me of the young love that we had (us lying on the grass in the summer after school and talking about how we'd be together forever) and I do wonder if anyone can ever make me feel how he did.

General CommentBest part: "I miss you. I miss being overwhelmed by you."

How many of us have been in a relationship where we feel overwhelmed and it's overbearing. Then when it's actually over, we even miss the things that got on our nerves.

Song MeaningI think there are multiple inspirations.

Ken Block has used the split with a very serious partner as fuel for many songs - especially in the albums Fortress and Chasing Daylight. He used to comment that he conceived "Champagne High" while at this woman's wedding reception before it's played live.

His brother Jeffrey, with whom he was very close with, passed away from cancer when he (Ken) was 20.

This song - especially the piano version - is absolutely heart wrenching. Sister Hazel has a number of songs over the years that really say exactly what a lot of people feel after hardship and tragedy. Great music for rebounding.
