I think this is about someone being kidnapped and the writer is struggling to find the person. While he can't actually find the person he doesn't give up till the end, hence "If there's a light, leave it on" and "Faith is just a promise I will make for you, Places that are haunted, I will wait for you" in the start, and "I'll leave my faith, Waiting to come down" by the end.
