The 12th Day Lyrics
We stand to cut the dark in two
And the concrete rain shattered window panes
But, no, it never shattered you
As long as there is blood inside my veins...
'Till the sun beats down
And we rise to meet the sky...
On that day, I swear
I will see you there
I will heal these wounded eyes...
These wounded eyes!
As we tried to find our way
Through the steel and smoke, though it smouldered
We were cold and blanketed by grey
All we had was everything we gave...
'Till the sun beats down
And we rise to meet the sky...
On that day, I swear
I will see you there
I will heal these wounded eyes...
These wounded eyes!
Turning strangers into brothers
We remember, we recover
As we hold on to each other
And our scars have made us stronger!
Turning strangers into brothers!
As we hold on to each other!
In a silent moment, we think of you now
'Till the sun beats down
And we rise to meet the sky...
On that day, I swear
I will see you there
I will heal these wounded eyes...
These wounded eyes!
The names and faces, I can't erase them from my mind
These empty spaces, across a bruised skyline
The names and faces, I can't erase them from my mind
It seems more as if to be about cleaning up and going through 9/11 and surviving to see September 12th than strictly about the events of 9/11 themselves. To me at least. I mean it can be interpreted as anybody going through a struggle, though yes, analysis makes it about 9/11. Yeah....
Gotta say, I was about to post an interpretation until I saw people saying it was about 9/11, but that makes sense enough.
The lyrics are kindof cryptic in a sense, but pretty obvious really, as with most songs.
The meaning to this song is pretty easy if you have the cd. It's about 9/11. The lyrics are put over where the two towers would be today. The lyrics themselves are pretty self explanitory too.
nods in agreement
I love this song... its so well written and has a good message about 9/11. I think the song should of ended with "I will heal these wounded eyes" instead of how it does.
Great song though and one of the best on the album :-)
I adore this song...b-but...I didn't know it was about 9/11. But it makes sense. Lots of sense.
my favorite song on the make a sound cd. Never knew it was 'bout 9/11, now i have new respects for the song.
