I need a bed
That nobody's slept in
I need some air
Nobody's been breathing

I need a thought
That I can believe in
Is this fog
Or is the building really burning

I need you
Much more than ever
I'm making new friends
But none of them matter

Maybe now
We don't fit together
But you've got your arms around
No one but strangers

I feel fine
With the sun in my eyes
The wind in my hair
When I'm falling out of this sky

I'm doing better than I thought I would
But nothing's ever as good
As when you're on top

I want to wake up
And just start running
Into a ditch
Or straight up a mountain

I want to get
Where no one been gettin'
Make it deeper than hell
Or make it higher than heaven

I need someone whose price hasn't been met
When everybody's disappearing
By the minute
There isn't anyone left

I haven't meet yet
Well I remember
When they hadn't gotten to you yet

Half way up
And over this rainbow
I heard a shot
Fire up from a ghetto

As I drop
I didn't think you'd follow
Just didn't know
The sky was this shallow

I need a garden
Where nothing's forbidden
I need an apple
That no one's been eatin'

I want to start again
Back at the beginnin'
I had a vision
That this feeling maybe has an ending

General Commentis it just me or does this song sound a lot like a bob dylan song? i know bob dylan doesnt have a song with these lyrics, but it sounds like how bob dylan sings, and a song he would make.

General CommentAww this song is cute. And, yeah i agree that this is a song you would play on a sunny day, sometime in the summer when everthing is nice, and just calm and perfect. Good song. :) And i guess it just kinda means i'm fine without you, but i still want you, because its not as fine, as when you were with me.

General CommentI kind of have two different takes on it.

    1) He's fine without this girl. He misses her, nothing's ever as good as when they're together, but he's recovering.

    OR...

    2) By this time, he's experienced fame and being popular, and so nothing's ever as good as when he's on top, and everyone loves him...

I was discussing this song yesterday, actually, and those are the theories we've proposed.

General CommentHe is talking about the idea of a Utopian existance he can't quite reach or describe except in the abstract metaphors throughout the song. I could quote him, but you can read. "On Top" is somewhere he hasn't quite reached.

General CommentThis song makes me happy. It's sort of how I feel right now, too. Like, my summer is going good, fine, better than expected... and I miss this person tons. Everything is fine, though, really good. Yeah, even though we are away from one another, I feel like everything is going to be okay with us. Eh, I still wish that he was here, but it'll be alright. I am going to try to have a good time without him... just missing him. xsigh. All well.

General Commentthis sounds nothing like a bob dylan song. NOTHING! lol sorry i am a huge dylan fan and i can'tlet that fly. as for the meaning, i think just because of jakob's personality it is about a girl. also in the video there's a girl but i suppose it could be about fame, that is the more obvious explanation but the wallflowers were never really famous...
