The Story Of ... Lyrics
You smell of smoke with your dirty clothes
We're all afraid of your twelve step stage
You lose control and you won't let go
You say your weak but you can't even speak
You scream your words and they don't flow
You killer rage, feel so much pain
You're one last tick of a time bomb
I will bleed
The story of those times you took from me
And I bleed
The story of the youth you wasted me
I finalize this one last time
I've gone away and found my home
You feel ashamed for the life you've claimed
We've said goodbye and you're all alone
You compromise with the letters you write
But your ink is dry and we're way too strong
You give a rose for the stones you've thrown
And that's a shame 'cause you're too late
The story of those times you took from me
And I bleed
The story of the youth you wasted in me
And I run on out...
'Cause I don't want to be that way
I'm running from the things I've seen
I'm running from the name of shame
The Unofficial Edgewater Site
My silver eyes with me brand new life
The memory stays as I go on
And all the seams that were ripped from me
And bound their strands and I do no harm
Someday I'll find a way
To trade that pain and all that's wrong
About a man who raised his hand
And I can't get that out of my head
The Unofficial Edgewater Site
And I bleed
The story of those times you took from me
And I bleed
The story of the youth you wasted in me
And I bleed
The story of those times you took from me
And I bleed
The story of ...

The lyrics are wrong, goodness why can't people get them right. But anways this song is about an abusive father/mother, probably father if your follwing the cliche, but the rose thing seems more of a womanly trait, but we. fave edgwater song!!!!

I agree. If people post lyrics, please at least TRY to make them correct.
I believe this song is about a person whom has promised many things to people in his past life and always lied about it by taking hellish means. As soon as the person realizes, he/she tries everything to cover up the mistakes that he/she made but soon enough gets denied by the people around him/her.
But it can be interpreted in so many accurate ways...
The other way to see this song is that this one person has always tried his/her best to make things happen correctly in life but not realizing that he/she is actually just digging the whole deeper without any resolvement so the person acts on their angst that he/she felt throughout his/her life and takes everything by selfish means to escape all past problems in order to start a new life yet, alas, surely realizes that he/she will be still haunted or followed even if you try to outrun your memories.

"You give a rose for the stones you've thrown And that's a shame 'cause you're too late" I think that's the abuser asking forgiveness and apologising for the things he'd done to the people he'd abused. They people he abused say it's too late because the damage has already been done.
