I think it's about finding himself, he keeps saying 'for something to believe in' he doesn't have a belief and he wishes he did. 'give me something to hold true, something to sing about'. He wishes he could sing about God but he can't. To him the world and this life is a pain and why is life a pain if there is God that's supposed to answer your prayers and make life amazing? He says 'touch my heart', like show yourself let me believe in you and 'I'll sing along forever' which is probably reffering to worshipment and belief. Well just my two cents! Probably completely wrong since the song doesn't really make sense!
