This is the first (thing I remember)
Now it's the last (thing left on my mind)
Afraid of the dark (do you hear me whisper?)
An empty heart (replaced with paranoia)
Where do we go? (Life's temporary)
After we're gone (like New Year's resolutions)
Why is this hard? (Do you recognize me?)
I know I'm wrong (but I can't help believing)

I'm so lost, I'm barely here
I wish I could explain myself, but words escape me
It's too late to save me
You're too late, you're too late

You're cold with disappointment while I'm drowning in the next room
The last contagious victim of this plague between us
I'm sick with apprehension, I'm crippled from exhaustion
And I dread the moment when you finally come to kill me

This is the first (thing I remember)
Now it's the last (thing left on my mind)
Afraid of the dark (do you hear me whisper?)
An empty heart (replaced with paranoia)
Where do we go? (Life's temporary)
After we're gone (like New Year's resolutions)
Why is this hard? (Do you recognize me?)
I know I'm wrong (but I can't help believing)

    My Interpretation

To me this is about love.

the good and bad of love how love affects some of us the different forms

love being the first thing we remember the last thing on our mind if you afraid of something the one you love helps keep you safe

when love hurts us or break our heart we become paranoid love is hard and sometime when we know we are wrong love still is to hard to ignore.

Some times love maes us feel lost and it hard to discribe your self when you in love, once you fall in love its very hard to fall out of love make it difficult to be saved, love can be cold we can drown in it and it will disappoint us

"The last contagious victim of this plague between us" i think this refers to the other person

loves can make us anxious and is very exhausting and love can kill us

When you are in love with some one it can be a stockholm syndrome of love and how we get stuck in love

im not good with words but hopefully this can explain this song

    My Interpretation

In my opinion, this is about a guy in love with a girl is in no way in love with him.. Perhaps, she is cold after falling out of love with him.

Her love is the first thing he remembered and is not the last thing left on him mind. Now he is afraid of the dark ( not knowing ) and wants to know if she hears him whisper ( telling her how he feels). An empty heart ( pointing out that he felt nothing for her), replaced with paranoia ( now he is scared that he lost her completely). In the next line he reiterates this idea as he says that he is lost without her because he thinks they had something. This is hard for him, and he feels like she doesnt recognize him because she no longer gives him the attention she used to. To her he feels like he doesnt exist (he is dead her). He knows he is wrong, but he cant help but believing.

at this point I start to think that this boy also hurt the girl, as he wants to explain himself, pointing out that he was lost, but he doesnt know what to say.

After that, he takes the point of view of of the girl. She is cold because she is disappointed by him... and he hates himself for messing up. He is the last contagious victim between them.. meaning that First she hates him for hurting her, and now he hates himself. He is angry with himself, he wants to be in pain, and he wants to be hurt. He is exhausted mentally and just wants this to be over, and he is dreading for the moment where his love completely cuts him out of her life ( death= loss) because at that point he has no hope of being with his love..

I really relate this song to anxiety and panic disorders. I think anyone with paranoiac, bizarre, weird or strange thoughts and feelings can relate to this song. It perfectly describes how I feel like when I'm having a panic attack - both lyrically and musically.

The strongest line, to me, is "and I dread the moment when you finally come to kill me", because it just describes having panic disorder so well. The "you" is referring to the panic disorder, because you really think dread it's gonna kill you.

in the beginning i couldn't stand blink...sure i would listen to whatever singles they put out on the radio and on rare occasions something incredible like adam's song or stay together for the kids would come out...

but then i heard this song (which kicks ass), and made me get the entire album. it totally destroys for me whatever they did before... i don't kno why it took them this long.

this cd is the best ..im still listening to it ... when they were making the albulm on blink 182.com they had videos of them making the albulm and i heard mark talking about this song he said its about someone whos drowning and cant get out so the lyric that came out of that i guess was the "You're cold with disappointment While I'm drowning in the next room "

My favorite song off of their new CD right now. It feels really genuine. I don't know if the spoken sequence that goes on before this song has anything to do with the actual song or not. It's a really cool way to build up to it though. That Mark screaming thing...usually I'd agree with you vonni, but I think he does it well on this one.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.

Just A Little Lovin'
Dusty Springfield
I don't think it's necessarily about sex. It's about wanting to start the day with some love and affection. Maybe a warm cuddle. I'm not alone in interpreting it that way! For example: "'Just a Little Lovin’ is a timeless country song originally recorded by Eddy Arnold in 1954. The song, written by Eddie Miller and Jimmy Campbell, explores the delicate nuances of love and showcases Arnold’s emotive vocals. It delves into the universal theme of love and how even the smallest gesture of affection can have a profound impact on our lives." https://oldtimemusic.com/the-meaning-behind-the-song-just-a-little-lovin-by-eddy-arnold/
