I fed the clues of a lost day killed in motion
But I thought of it so
Like there's no other way it could've been done
Will they size my fit
For a puzzle I wish not to play a part in it?
A heart stained in hate
A feeling I fear will play circles

But you, you were my favorite
But you, you know, you were my favorite

I severed my ties
To shroud this body under the streets of this city
And wait for the day
When I am summoned to walk across the face
Well, slowly but clearer now
In visions that play and plague memories
I love them with all (heart)
As a son should to mother and father

But you, you were my favorite
But you, you know, you were my favorite

Would I walk through the door?
Shedding the light of all life
With the rise and reform
Would I come as before?

Pray you're not the only one
Pray you're not the only

If given mistakes would I take them back?
If erasing them could, if erasing them would

What would they be, the words that I say?
Your face and a door between
I've parted three ways
For you, the Newo that I loved (loved)

Did you ever really know before my face, shamed to break?
Did you ever really know before my mind, scared to think
Did you ever really know before my name, son to these?
Did you, did you, did you come clean in the end from the start?

Dear Ambelina
The Prise wishes you
To watch over me, oh whoa
Dear Ambelina
The Prise wishes you
To watch over me, oh whoa

I've fought the decisions that called and lost
My mark and the relevant piece in this
I will come reformed
In short, for the murders of those I court
I bless the hour that holds your fall
I will kill you all

I will call you out from shelter (I will call you out)
Burn your wings, you'll know no better (burn your wings)
I will call you out from shelter (I will call you out)
Burn your wings and learn their letters (burn your wings)

Dear Ambelina (I will call you out from shelter)
The Prise wishes you (burn your wings)
To watch over me, oh whoa (burn your wings)

I will call you out from shelter (I will call you out)
Burn your wings and learn their letters (burn your wings)

Dear Ambelina (I will call you out from shelter)
The Prise wishes you (burn your wings)
To watch over me (burn your wings)

    My Interpretation

This track is about Claudio (the lead singers first name, but in the song's context he's a character that's a part of a narrative interwoven throughout the bands songs). Claudio in this song finds out he is the crowing (the savior). He's left everyone he's loved behind including Ambellina (his guardian). He is starting to understand his powers more now but he doesn't understand why he's been chosen. He's scared & now knows what he can do but doesn't know how.

So since this is all part of a sci-fi story its hard to interperte jsut one song, because they all fit together. Claudio, the son of coheed and cambria is just waking up from a long sleep, i dont know if he knows wheather or not his parents are dead yet. He is in love with ikkon newo, (nikki owen) But i dont know if he fell in love with her in his sleep. Also when he wakes up he has a fairy gardian (ambellina) and i dont think he is burning her wings as an evil thing, i think it may be a way to make her more powerful or more human. and i think it was her who told him about his parents deaths, and the battle that had taken place. He is split three ways i think between the love for ikkon, the revenge he seeks for his parents, and im not sure what the thrid is. feel free to add or correct.

well, the girl he loves is named newo ikkin and the burn your wings thing has nothing to do with ambellina, he is talking to the people who killed his parents. basically saying "when i find you, ill call you out, bring you down from the pedastel on which you hold yourself, and then youll know better than to mess with me"....in a nutshell...

this song leaves me speechless every time. The instrumental breakdowns are unreal...and the whole "Dear Ambellina" ending is so powerful. Brilliance

I dont think the :burn your wings" has anything to do with burning her/its wings. I think it is simbolizing her turning in to a uman to watch over him and inform him of his parents death. BTW, I read that she turns into a human at the Co Ca message board. Yall should check it out. coheedandcambria.com

you guys got it. Ambellina was sent by the Prise to become a human and watch over Claudio. she tells him what has happened and what he has to do. the 3 ways are: returning to Newo, saving the universe, and giving up on life and letting everything fade to dust. Claudio is the last hope for the universe.

ambellina....that's a beautiful name. and so is this song. Is it wrong that I listen to the songs and love them regardless of the story they tell?

No. It's not wrong. I'm the same way. I can just sit back and listen without even thinking about what they mean.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Cajun Girl
Little Feat
Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve. The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future. Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere" The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
