Time Lyrics
Where did you go?
Why did you leave me here, alone?
Wait, don't go so fast
I'm missing the moments as they pass
And the world's getting clearer
So wait for me this time
Begging for all your sympathies
But you..
(I'm just an illusion)
...you don't seem to care
(I wish that I could)
You humble people everywhere
(I don't mean to hurt you)
And the world's getting clearer
I'll take what you give me
Please know that I'm learning
So wait for me this time
I shouldn't have wasted those days.
And afternoons and mornings, I threw them all away
And I'm gonna make this moment mine
(I shouldn't have wasted those days)
Please know that I'm learning
I've looked in the mirror
The world's getting clearer
So wait for me this time

I always feel as if time is moving way too fast and that I am in a stand still. It's a great song to get one into Chantal's music.

lovely song!

i love this song :)
its just about how you should really use your time wisely, dont waste it, make something of it, something you'll remember, good memories.. espeically dont waste your time regretting the past.
move forward!

I'm extremely surprised at the lack of comments on this...I thought everyone knew/loved this song! =P but anyway, yeah, I'm listening to this song right now, and it's just...reflective. thinking back on your life, and wanting to fix everything...I remember being outside on a rainy day and listening to this song and just...feeling so inspired.

Dont waste the time you have. Take what you have been given and take full advantage of it.

i really like this song and biblyums pretty much explain what this song means

I love this song. The only line I don't understand in this song is "But you (I’m just an illusion) you don’t seem to care (I wish that I could) You humble people everywhere (I don’t mean to hurt you)" Anyone want to share their insight?
@TheMissJayelle I love this song too. Ever since I heard it when I was a child. Every time I listened to it, I always got this bittersweet feeling -- even though I didn't completely understand the meaning of the lyrics at the time.

Listening to this song now after watching the movie again (at 26 years old), I believe the singer is having a conversation with time itself. This song touches on the feelings of regret, losing time or rather, not having enough of it. Yet, there is still a strong sense of hope in the lyrics, which conveys a powerful and touching message.
In the lyrics you're referring to, I believe the singer is continuing the conversation with time. She is feeling betrayed by time, "but you -- you don't seem to care". Time doesn't stop and sometimes we're not always ready to move with it, hence why she is feeling humbled by time.
The lyrics in brackets might be the voice of time speaking back to her. Saying "I'm just an illusion" and "I don't mean to hurt you". Time isn't actually real, it's a concept we've created as humans, and so - it can't actually hurt us.
This is my understanding and I hope it helps.
