I think it's about a woman in a coma and her lover is asking her to wake up before she dies. "before the wrath comes".

And then at the end he realises it's no hope, and she should "take off" (pass away).

I agree a lot with what Noble35 says. This is my own personal view (this happens to me everytime!):

The girls I get with usually try to avoid conflict. They try to manipulate me and events outside of our relationship to avoid actually talking things out and seeking to understand each other. So while this girl tries to pacify you, you start to swell with all the the things you want to tell her.

"You should wake up before the wrath comes (me and you) could take off before the wrath comes...soon"

I can relate because Chino has accepted himself to know that he must speak his mind. I too have a buildup of wrath at times and it will simply come out, sooner or later. So he is saying that the girl should either wake up or take off before it comes. He's testing her worth and how much she truly cares about him.

"You're too tired, you choose heaven over the earth and me but come on please..."

This says how she says she's too tired to argue or settle differences. She would rather just dream it all away. But Chino knows that reality is a part of our lives (and drama) whether we like it or not. We are stuck here until we die.

This is a phase that I always go through and now its become typical! It's natural! Don't let anyone (guy or girl) convince you not to speak your mind and open your heart, because it is a part of the relationship. Don't fear that this may drive them away because if it does, then they weren't meant for you.

Here's is the progression of all my relationships so far: Initial meeting (friendly and lots of conversation) Infatuation (dreamy, often mistaken for love) Reality (your real life world drags you back down, often when break-ups occur) ????? (haven't gotten past that yet!)

I think Chino is singing about a relationship with an old girlfriend, where the girl is just leading him on and didnt want to be with him. My friend and his gf never hung out and she always used hte excuse "Im too tired" Also "you choose heaven over the earth and me but come on please..." could mean that the girl is looking to get with guys she considers better then chino. And the wrath that chino is warning about his how he knows hes being mistreated by this girl and is one day goign to let it all out and go off on her.

you guys are dead on i think. i kind of thought the song was about a loving and working realationship that is full of conflict. you know, those couples that are always seen fighting yet trully love each other. i think this happens with Chino alot. the chorus is kind of a warning, to both the guy and the girl, kind of saying "we should calm down before this gets worse" or the 'wrath" coming.

oh and "Chino69", i completly know where you are coming from. females are never the angels we purpously mistake them for.

Also the bit about heaven over earth is when she doesn't have the will to live so she chooses heaven (to die).

I really think my interpretation fits, i like your views as well though.

I think it's about taking a certain attention to a girl, past or present relationship possibly. He watches her, knows her well, he sees her in low spirits. He gives his world to her, yet she overlooks this. I think Chino cares way too much to let it go though, he won't. Just saying that he wants to make her see, what's right in front of her, because she's blind to it...make her realize and take tutelage in what he's got to offer, before it all comes crashing down. She's a lost spirit, he's got the number and location. They've got something together that she won't accept right now, I've got the feeling she will though...

I always thought it was

"you, you wish away god/ before the wrath comes/ and you could take god/ before the wrath comes"

or "before the rat comes"

but the waking up makes more sense now. it goes with the title of the song.

i always thought it was mocking religion, like, 'you should come to us before it's too late and we all die', that crazy sorta stuff. but the relationship theme fits in better with the title
