How neat...
I'm impressed...
How did you come to be... So blessed?
You're a star
You blaze...out like a sharp machine...
Like a whales moan...
I'm here if that's what you want!

Here we are! You're pins, I'm needles... Lets play...
Here we are! You want this? Then come on...

Tune out!
Everyone in the crowd, because now it's just me and you!
Come fall in love with the sound!
Make a pact to each other!
When no ones around
Put the cross between me and you!
Who wants to fuck with us now?

Here we are! You're pins, I'm needles... Lets play...
Here we are! You want this? Then come on...

Tune out!
Everyone in the crowd, because now it's just me and you!
Come fall in love with the sound!
Make a pact to each other!
When no ones around
Put the cross between me and you!
Who wants to fuck with us now? x3

General CommentDefinitely could be about their relationship on a personal level. I think it can be seen as any two people that are "powerful." By powerful I mean people who have developed themselves on many levels and are intelligent as well as strong enough to stand up for themselves. Leaders.

    "Here we are - You're pins - I'm needles - Let's play...
Here we are - You want this? - Then come on... "

I see this as they are banging heads. They are both sharp and on fire which means they will burn anyone who gets in the way. But pins and needles are essentially the same thing so they are equal.

"Make a pact to each other when no one's around
put the cross between me and you
Who wants to fuck with us now?"

And when they learn to work with each other they are that much stronger.

Excellent song and this album has viewpoints that I haven't even thought about. I definitely give the Deftones a 10 on innovation. It always seems when other bands are doing the same thing, the Deftones goes the opposite way. And they are so successful at it! While the focus has been on sad songs and healing the soul, of getting over pain and suffering, the Deftones are now focusing on issues that deal with beauty and light. It's amazing! Hats off to you!

General Commenti don't agree with the whole 'chino and stephen' interpretation. even though it makes sense with sooome of the lyrics, if it was actually about that - chino wouldn't sing it like that. he sings it like it's about a woman. about how he wants to be with this girl and how he's unsure of what she wants.

i loove this song, absolutely awesome!!

General CommentI think this is about Stephen. I heard they fight a lot about how to write songs, especially on White Pony.

General CommentI totally disagree with def linus, I don't see one lyric that suggests "him" being unsure of what "she" wants.

I feel that it's about two people that are on a higher level of whatever it is that they do, and that they're just showing each other what they can do. In the begining they start off doing things that are nice, but common. The way Chino sings "How neat, I'm impressed," sounds really sarcastic to me like they're just showing each other the basics. Then later on in the song, they really start getting into each other once they've got past all the superficial BS.

General Commentwell i agree with linus that i do't think chino would write a song about him and stephen, it seems kind of creepy to me. Well if i was stephen, i'd be creeped out that chino's writing songs about me. It's to intimate as well.
And since the album was going to be called "lovers" - better name than "deftones" if you ask me - i think it's about getting married.
"make a pact when no-one's around" - proposal
"put the cross between me and you" - if you're christian then that's really what's you're doing.
"how did you come to be so blessed?" - he's besotted with this girl.
"tune out everyone in the crowd because now it's just me and you" - when at a wedding they forget about everyone else
"who wants to fuck with us now?" - they're like a team now, life partners.
