Paint the streets in white
Death is the standard breach for a complex prize
I think it's sweet of you and your parents are proud
But I would expect it from anyone now to protect life's indigenous sound
Worship, play, play
Worship, play, play
Worship, play, play
Worship, play
Worship, play
Worship, worship, play
Worship, play, play
Worship, play, play
Worship, play, play
Worship, play
Worship, worship
How the streets, they swell
While the animals make their way through the crowds
If you keep listening, you can hear it for miles
God, I trust everyone quicker with every faint smile
Worship, play, play
Worship, play
Worship, play, play

Worship, worship
And the crowd goes wild
And the camera makes you seasick
God, it's so sweet of you and I know you're proud
And the car bomb hits quick, faint smile
It's the same sound
It's the same, same sound
And the crowd goes wild
And the camera makes you seasick
God, it's so sweet of you and you know I'm proud
And the car bomb tick ticks with the same sound
It's the same sound
With the same sound
Death is the standard breach for a complex prize
I think it's sweet of you and your parents are proud
But I would expect it from anyone now to protect life's indigenous sound

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

This is a sequel to 2001's "Reckless Abandon", and features the band looking back on their clumsy youth fondly.
Blue
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
Punchline
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran sings about missing his former partner and learning important life lessons in the process on “Punchline.” This track tells a story of battling to get rid of emotions for a former lover, whom he now realized might not have loved him the same way. He’s now caught between accepting that fact and learning life lessons from it and going back to beg her for another chance.
This song is about the whole Israeli/Palestinian conflict. First, a "hexagram" is a shape that looks a lot like the Star of David. I'll talk about some key parts: "Paint the streets in white!
Death is the standard breach for a complex prize!"
Suicide bombings (death) can bring a liberated Palestine (the complex prize)
"But I would expect it from anyone now to protect life's indigenous sound!"
Life's indigenous sound is just people living, and while Chino respects one's choice to martyr themselves, he exects everyone to protect life.
"And the crowd goes wild! And the camera makes you seasick! God it's so sweet of you and I know you're proud"
The crowd is not going wild in joy, but fear. This is the panic after a bombing. And if you were looking at a film, how would it make you see sick? If the camera was in the panic as well. We have all seen the news where the "crowd" runs in panics as does the cameraman. The part about God, in the whole song, is from an extremist view. Its almost ironic when he says that it sweet of God to kill "innoncent" people and that he is proud of Him.
"And the car bomb tick ticks with the same sound! Its the same sound! With the same sound..."
The "same sound" is Chino's point: all life is the same. The Palestinian bombings, the Israeli raids, they all kill the same thing: people. This song almost becomes an anthem for life. Great song. A lot of passion went into this song, and it can be heard. Sorry for taking up the page. I am also sorry if my post seemed one-sided, I tried to present my view of the song without adding my political views. Ask any questions if you have them, say I'm wrong, this is only my interpretation. But the title convises me I'm on to something. Thanks
I thought, perchance, by "same sound" Chino could mean a camera click. Along with "paint the streets in white", when a camera's flash goes off it's a white light. I do agree with everything though. "How the streets they swell, while the animals make there way through the crowds" I interpret that as a street swells with people running from and to the action, the animals are people going to the explosion to take photos and video's of it. I just add that I think it has to do with one half Israeli- Palestinian conflict and the other half how the people use death to make money and publicity.
WoW I can't believe so many people misinterpreted the first few lines of this song. "Death is the standard breach of a complex prize" is not about liberation and complex prize is not the afterlife. Focus on the word "BREACH" its a violation. Death breaks the unsaid law of preserving life. That is what that line means. When you kill yourself you are in breach of that law of preserving your own life which is the complex prize. Life itself is the complex prize.
@elmo17 Since when has been Deftones known for writing songs with a political meaning?
