I will come to you
In the still of the night
And I will crush you
With the burden of sight
And you will understand
The shadows in my heart
The fury of my conviction
Will cause your heart to quicken
And then, my dear
You will see you want me here

[Chorus]
And when you wake up
You will see yourself through my eyes
And when you break up
You'll understand
Why it is I cry

Let me speak quietly
So your heart can hear
I will hypnotize and mesmerize you
With the sound of your own fear

[Chorus]

I just want to get along
This is your song
I wrote it in my head
But the melody's all wrong
And it's driving me crazy
Not having you, baby
To keep me company
In my own private world
You're my one true girl
And I won't be stoppin' Just 'cause your knees are knockin'
When I decide 2 drop in
So don't make a sound
Cause there's no one around
To come between us now
I'm gonna haunt you, girl

This song gave me the creeps the first time I heard it. It so dark and you get a real sense that someone's watching you. It's weird. But I totally love it. That's the amazing thing about Jewel, she can totally bring you into the song and for a few minutes you see what she sees.

I love this song because it has an creepy sense to it and it really goes in to how the stalker is feeling, you almost feel sorry for him.

    this song is about JEWEL being in the perspective of a guy who is stalking a girl that he likes, she says it in her lyric boook for her newest CD. =}

Yeah, saraXkills has got it. This great little melody was taken from a letter from a stalker, I believe, just as was "Possession" by Sarah McLachlan. A disturbing look into the minds of the most celebrity-obsessed.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.
