Dirty Pool Lyrics

True love is gone
I's been played for a fool
True love is gone
I's been played for a fool
I'm turnin' the tables on you
You've been playin' dirty pool

You said you'd call the shots darlin'
All your friends thought that was cool...so cool baby
You said you'd call the shots darlin'
All your friends thought that was so cool
Yeah when you shot at the eight-ball baby
I knew you were playin' dirty pool

They say that life
Life is a game of give and take
They say that life
Life is a game of give and take
I'm tellin' you one thing right now little baby
I won't be the one to pay for your mistake

Cover art for Dirty Pool lyrics by Stevie Ray Vaughan

The word darlin' can't be right, first it makes no sense, not that that matters it's a lyric, but calling shots a little high, is a simple pool reference. High stakes. Then the lyric says says your friends thought that was SO cool. Then the word 'at' the eight ball, sounds right as a pool reference, but clearly he says 'shot 'em the 8 ball baby. I have heard this live and in recordings and he is clearly not saying 'at' he is say 'um' shot'um. This Dirty Pool is not typical man woman cheating, it is a drug reference. An eight ball is cocaine and heroin combined. This adds up. The dirty pool player has cheated the friends into taking heroin by mixing them. Girl is also slang for cocaine, (boy heroin) so referring to her about shooting and dirty....well you see what it is. Poor man got clean just in time to be in a helicopter crash. LIAB.
