Hello, how are you doing today
I hope I find you feeling healthy
I'm so glad our paths crossed this time today
On our way into the night

I say it’s love that treats us well, keeps us dancing and romancing
Baby I love you up and down and inside out
Say love when I approach tears they fall like rain
You tell me baby your heart’s into a thousand pieces dies

Stop, only old and wise with clouded eyes
You can't see what I can see
I blindly throw my faith to the face
Of the next pretty girl to come my way

So here we are all of us stand around
We're leaning heavy on each other
Always wondering what is it lies behind
The worried eyes of one another

Well I believe it’s love that’s hiding there, deep down inside us all
So baby I do not understand this twist you have
Love when I approach the tears they fall like rain
You tell me baby your heart’s into a thousand pieces dashed

Stop, only old and wise with clouded eyes
You can't see what I can
I blindly throw my faith to the face
Of the next good thing to come my way

I say it’s love
Don’t keep it down, keep it out, let it out, sellin’
Baby, celebrate it all, it’s doing fine
Say love, when I approach your tears they fall like rain
You tell me baby, your heart’s into a thousand pieces
That’s love

Baby
Love
Baby
Love

Teach us well, pieces, dancing and romancing
Baby
Two of us, turn, turn together
Love
Baby
Love

I guess I’ll never stop
Baby
Gonna be an eternity in here
Love
Each in the light of love, with expectations
Baby

General CommentFrom what I have read this song was titled "Granny" even before it was written. I don't know if the title necessarily fits anything but the first verse of the song, but it doesn't matter too much. All in all this is just a great song... However I still can't manage to put my finger on exactly what it is about.

General CommentOn Storytellers Dave says its named Granny for no particular reason, although there seem to be implications of him speaking to an older wiser person (old and wise with clouded eyes).

General CommentI think that the first verse is him meeting up with his grandmother ..."hope i find you feeling healthy.." and he talks to her about love. He feels like since she is old and wise, (I always thought it said you CAN see what I CAN'T ...) she sees through the beauty and lust that youth embraces and can get carried away with so many times. The rest of the song is talking about meeting up with this pretty girl... Just a thought. IM me if you love Dave too....

General Commentthis is one of my favorites by dave....I think it deals with the insecurities we all face when we love someone. We shouldn't have doubts but rather trust in our partner, but sometimes that's hard. I love the part about being controlled by a pretty face- amazing- wishing the outer beauty was not at all important in a partner, easier said than done

General Commenti really don't think dave is talking to his grandma in the beginning.....the whole idea of meeting this person and asking how they are is Dave's way of trying to find out and know his loved one better.....just my opinion though

General CommentGranny actually has absolutley no relevance to the song. When Dave can't think of a name for a song, he'll ask a friend of his, I think it was the lighting guy, but i cna't remember off the top of my head, but that guy will give it a name, he's named songs like "Blue Water Baboon Farm" and "Heathcliff's Haiku Warrior". This is another one of his naming. If you want the exact person check out nancies.org

General CommentFirst I'd like to say, and I mean no offense to anyone, but I think that this is not a great translation of the lyrics. Second, I'd like to say that I think this song is a metaphor for how a "granny" sees love, unconditional and without question, as opposed to how many young people see it, conditional and with requirements. I think "granny" is telling us to love freely and without limits, much like your 'granny" prabably loves you.
