I am gross and perverted
I'm obsessed 'n deranged
I have existed for years
But very little had changed
I am the tool of the Government
And Industry too
For I am destined to rule
And regulate you
I may be vile and pernicious
But you can't look away
I make you think I'm delicious
With the stuff that I say
I am the best you can get
Have you guessed me yet?
I am the slime oozing out
From your TV set

You will obey me while I lead you
And eat the garbage that I feed you
Until the day that we don't need you
Don't go for help, no one will heed you
Your mind is totally controlled
It has been stuffed into my mold
And you will do as you are told
Until the rights to you are sold

"That's right, folks.. Don't touch that dial!"

Well, I am the slime from your video
Oozin' along on your livingroom floor
I am the slime from your video
Can't stop the slime, people, look at me go

General CommentGreat song! I'm surprized so few have commented on it. Basically it says TV is evil, don't believe anything you see on TV. I say go outside and find out for yourself if your perceptions (eyes, ears) match what your being told. And don't park your kids in front of the electronic babysitter and then complain that kids are too violent these days. Really any kind of media can lead to brainwashing, TV is just one of the most popular. Sorry if I ramble im a little ADD.

General CommentI think what you said was good reddorothy. I think the principle of the song can also be applied to the rest of the media. You really have to take the things you watch and read with a pinch of salt. It is so easy for us to take the word of the media without stopping to think, wait a minute, it may not be completely true.

The other element to this song is that people end up giving their lives to the television, which is a very sad thing indeed. It reminds me of a verse from Jeff Buckley's 'The Sky is a Landfill' song that goes "turn away from the screen, it will tell you nothing more". There isn't much spiritual growth that comes from spacing out in front of the tv.

I'm not sure if it's television that is evil. Some programs/films can be eye opening and edifying, but they are pretty rare.

    Well, I have out-rambled reddorothy.

TranslationThe internet has replaced the TV, but Frank wouldn't have known that. It's always going to be something that will be the slime.
