Cuddly Toy Lyrics
You're not the only choo-choo train that was left out in the rain
The day after Santa came
You're not the only cherry delight that was left out in the night
And gave up without a fight
Your're not the only cuddly toy that was ever enjoyed by any boy
The kind of company you keep
I never told you not to love no other
You must of dreamed it in your sleep
You're not the only choo-choo train that was left out in the rain
The day after Santa came
You're not the only cherry delight that was left out in the night
And gave up without a fight
Your're not the only cuddly toy that was ever enjoyed by any boy
The kind of company you keep
I never told you not to love no other
You must of dreamed it in your sleep
You're not the only choo-choo train that was left out in the rain
The day after Santa came
You're not the only cherry delight that was left out in the night
And gave up without a fight
Your're not the only cuddly toy that was ever enjoyed by any boy
I started really liking the Monkees when I was in 1st grade (1986). Of course back then I never understood songs, I just like to listen to the beat and whatnot, and the lyrics were just silly to me. So now as an adult I listen to these songs again, and I'm like, woah! This song is so sleezy! It's all about using a girl and then telling her, hey, you're not the only one I've used or that any man has used. It's really interesting too how the song is so bouncy and sounds so innocent, until you listen to the words. Such is the genius of the monkees.
Let's not give The Monkees too much credit. The song Cuddly Toy was written by Harry Nilsson. You can see his version of it on YouTube

I was very surprised to learn that this song is about a gang bang. You may think I'm kidding, but it was in some Rhino liner notes.
I don't think you are kidding. My take was that it was about a one night stand but your take does make sense.

Harry Nilsson wrote Cuddly Toy. He was the "genius".
Being the origins of The Monkees was under TV censorship as opposed to the other bands/artists, they were the kings of sneaking things through. Another note about the music style of this song, they started doing a track per album with this old vaudeville/music hall style sound from albums 3, 4, 5 and 6.
