Refine Me Lyrics

I come into this place, burning to receive your peace
I come with my own chains, From wars I've fought for my own selfish gain.
You're my God and my Father. I've accepted your son
But my sould feels so empty now
What have I become? Lord, come with your fire
Burn my desires refine me.
Lord my will has deceived me
Please come and free me. Refine me. Refine me.
My heart can't see. When I only look at me. My soul can't hear. When I only think of my own fears. They are gone in a moment. You're forever the same. Why did I look away from You? How can I speak your name? Lord, come your fire. Burn my desires refine me. Lord my will has deceived me
Please come and free me.
Come rescue this child, For I long to to reconciled to You.
Refine me, All I can do, Is lift my heart, my sould to you, and Pray, and pray OH I will pray...

This song is pretty self-explanatory...I just love these lines:

"When I only think of my own fear, they are gone in a moment. You're forever the same thing."

Why should we fear such fleeting things? We are so stupid and really just prideful to think that these earthly things are worth stressing about.

This is one of my fav Jenn Knapp songs. I get chills every time i hear it.
"Why did I look away from You? How can I speak your name?" AMAZING!!!! We can never explain why we turn away. and sometimes it's so hard to talk to God, knowing the pain we cause him by our sins.

My prayer is always, "burn my desires, refine me". Powerful!

This song was written by someone else - one of only 2 songs on "Kansas" Kim something or another, can't remember her last name off hand... she was my favorite singer-songwriter of any genre... wonder where she went?
