A marvel of a song, let’s go over its meaning.
The first verse talk about a woman’s vanity, her lust - she’s lustfull but cold - an autumns chill.
The second verse speak of her fake smiles of happiness when instead she’s “haunted” and unhappy. “On and on it goes” - it is something that is ongoing, and she likes to fade out into her world into her thoughts.
The chorus is simple to understand yet there it lies it’s beauty. Unlike the verses that tell us about this woman, chorus is everything that Charles wants to say and do to her. He wants to take her in his arms, dance with her forever, be locked in that moment at the place where “tomorrow never comes”. “Follow me into the darkness where the nightmares never fade, whisper dreams my fallen angel from which you will never wake” he wants her to dream of him, he wants them to be together in the dream atleast. This is directly tied to the name of the song “Some Sick Dream” - it was all just a dream... sick dream.
This is further evident by bridge. She’s all alone again... and the whole romance was Some Sick Dream.
The song isn’t obviously about love that never was. She’s lustfull but for some reason she’s faking happiness and smiles, and he dreams of hugging her and forever dancing with her, but alas it’s all just a dream.
Beautifully sad like only Charles Edwards can do.
