"Here It Comes" as written by and Brock/judy/green....
Walk to your house on my lunch break
Here it comes
Come inside and pour a drink
You'll probably tell me everything you think

Here it comes
The place and the time that we knew
that things could go wrong
The grass grows green
could you step away from the screen
it doesn't mean
I don't want you to be seen
just not like everyone.

Grass grows green and it's just everyone.
You always told me life's a dam that breaks, well
Here it comes
If you sit still or if you run
Here it comes.

So now we're drownin' in birthday cakes
Here it comes
The place and the time that we knew that things could go wrong
Keep it clean.

I didn't mean to be mean.
Why does it always seem
Like I've never won.

Keep it clean and no one's ever won.
The empty promise makers said
Here it comes
Make a point to make no sense, well
Here it comes
Speak about the future in the past tense
Here it comes
Don't look down.

So what'd we do?
Here it comes
Walkin' around with shit on our shoes
Oh, here it comes
The place and the time that we knew things would go wrong.

My InterpretationPut simply, this song is about the vanity of life. It's saying that no matter what you do, the end is coming. I think of Pompeii, where people were doing just normal stuff when a wave of hot ash instantly killed them. Or the flood of Noah's day. There is no escaping it. Its reality. Like death. Here it comes. Doesn't really matter what you do. Great song, but some of the interpretations here are pretty far fetched. Some people don't realize that Isaac Brock is the ultimate cynic. Lots of Modest Mouse lyrics seem to indicate his view of the triviality of life, which I don't entirely disagree with. There is a very Epicurean view in much of their music. (See Guilty Cocker Spaniels, Bury Me With It, Life Like Weeds, etc.) I like that.

General Commentholy jesus this song kicks ass. i just found it the other day when i finally got the everywhere album. what a gem of a song this! such a laid back carefree philo on life. meanwhile i've scoured the internet looking for decent tabs on this song and found next to nothing. ive got the little guitar scale figured but the chords and and rest are a mystery. if anyone knows how to play it, the info would be much appreciated

General CommentThis is the only song that has those lyrics Past...

The lyrics are self exlpanatory..it is about a carefree person who loves life and sees he is getting older, but is still living (or hoping to live) with some of that same carefree attitude.

This song, Summer, All Nite Drive In, are the kind of songs by MM that can get stuck in your head from the beat alone!
