So sorry it's over
So sorry it's over
There's so much more that I wanted and (so sorry it's over)
There's so much more that I needed and (so sorry it's over)
Time keeps moving on and on and on (so sorry it's over)
Soon we'll all be gone

Let's take some time to talk this over
You're out of line and rarely sober
We can't depend on your excuses
'Cause in the end it's fuckin' useless
You can only lean on me for so long
Bring the ship about to watch a friend drown
Sit out on the ledge, begged you to come down
You can only lean on me for so long

I remember shots without a chaser
Absentminded thoughts, now you're a stranger
Cover up the scars put on your game-face
Left you in the bar to try and save face

You can only lean on me for so long
Bring the ship about to watch a friend drown
Sit out on the ledge, begged you to come down
You can only lean on me for so long

So sorry it's over
So sorry it's over
There's so much more that I wanted and (so sorry it's over)
There's so much more that I needed and (so sorry it's over)
Time keeps moving on and on and on (so sorry it's over)
Soon we'll all be gone

Man on a mission, can't say I miss him around
Insider information, hand in your resignation
Loss of a good friend, best of intentions I found
Tight lipped procrastination
Yeah later, see you around

Scott hasn't died but there has been lots of rumors about him. I got so worried the first time I heard he was dead! I prefer Travis's drumming but IMHO, Scott fitted in better, he laughed and joked like the other two, so I prefered his presence in the band. And Travis fans, don't eat me for saying that, I know Blink wouldn't have gotten big without Travis blah blah blah but I really would prefer it to be Scott, Tom and Mark like the good old days of Cheshire Cat, Dude Ranch et all....

This song is about Scott Raynor.

Blink have not been consistent with their reasons for kicking scott out.

On one of the Urethra Chronicles DVD's Mark says that Scott did not turn up for a show and they got Travis to learn the songs in a metter of hours.

Yet in an interview I read, Tom says the reason why he left was because he wanted to go to College.

If you go search for Scott on Wikipedia - the are links to two interviews he has done. In BOTH of the interviews he gives exactly the same reason as to why he was told to leave.

In one of the interviews he admits he was constantly battling with Mark and Tom as to which direction the band should take - basically saying he feels they have sold out.

I cannot help but feel the song is a cheap shot aimed at Scott.

poser song my arse! jeees. it's about how scott raynor left the band because he was always pissed and he kept on saying he would stop drinking and go to rehab or whatever, but he didn't go "You're out of line and rarely sober" so, scott left (or was asked to leave) and replaced by travis <333 Tom and Mark realised that "in the end, it's fucking useless" to try and change someone out of their habits, if scott wanted to stop drinking, he would have.

oh yea mate, poser song all the way.

guys...look. every bloody song i seem to go onto has comments about whether u do or dnt like blink. whether they are punk or not. whether tom can or cant play the guitar. guys...it doesnt matter! only one person can be the best guitar player in the world and it isnt tom..big deal! he dusnt pretend to be! the band have often admitted that they know they dont even think themselves that they are that good but they play because they love to perform. read interviews, they fuckin loved gettin up on stage and didnt care wot ppl fort of them because they wernt trying to be best. the whole punk thing...look if ur so sad that u can only listen to music that is punk then so be it. in my opinion i love blink! i dont care wat they are called whether its punk pop or rock that ppl wanna call it it dusnt make a difference. if u like the music then listen. and i fink its good that they hav experimented with a few different sounds rather than stick to one strict genre it just shows their creativity. everyone is entitled to an oppinion and i have nothing against non-blink fans lol but i dnt fink u shud be leavving comments saying blink are crap...they cant write gd music or woteva because if they were really that crap then they wouldnt have been a successful band that lasted 11 years. :) BLINK ARE ACE

Your all a bunch of idiots. this song was written for scott raynor, the ex - and first drummer of blink (blink 182). they wrote this song to him after kicking him out of the band.

they came to him, told him he had 3 days to make a choice, the band or the alchohol, he chose the band and told them the next day, but he had already been replaced by aquabats drummer travis barker.

Light Up The Sky
Van Halen
The song lyrics were written by the band Van Halen, as they were asked to write a song for the 1979 movie "Over the Edge" starring Matt Dillon. The movie (and the lyrics, although more obliquely) are about bored, rebellious youth with nothing better to do than get into trouble. If you see the movie, these lyrics will make more sense. It's a great movie if you grew up in the 70s/80s you'll definitely remember some of these characters from your own life. Fun fact, after writing the song, Van Halen decided not to let the movie use it.

Silent Planet
I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

No Surprises
Radiohead
Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
