Takes a crane to pick me up.
A twenty gallon coffee cup.
A metal flag to move my brow.
Indelible's my color now.
Forever is the time it takes to get me moving.
Can you wait?
I'll be along any year.
Progress slowed by heightened fear.
I got a broken crown.
I went from king to clown.
Don't think I'm down.
A fool's got so much less to lose.
I see your life's a race I can't run.
U curse the man who fired the gun.
Concrete socks and cement shoes.
The race was fixed I'm gonna lose it.
There's danger in a desperate man.
Watch yourself I'm panicking.
I know my time is almost done.
It's now or never.
Never comes.
We're young yet.
Too young to regret it.
I see you play it safe.
If you had a dime I bet you wouldn't bet it.
Well that's cool.
What's advice from a fool?
Just hear me out.
This is what I'm all about.
Twenty-one in need of fun.
Growing old.
In a band to understand a fucked up world.
Twenty-two it could be through.
Enlist now.
No one knows where it is going, but it's up from down.
Could well be I'm full of shit.
Saying never guarantees it.
Still Im not some posicreep.
Reality my soul do keep.
Living on the brighter side.
Living only half a life.
I keep my feet tied to the ground.
I let my head go wander 'round.

Jawbreaker has some pretty interesting lyrics. I like these. I'm not sure if there's anything to really make out from them. In the begining it sounds like it's about things being really shitty, but towards the end it sounds a little more... "optimistic".

I think it's about day dreaming of doing things and never actually doing them, but saying one day he will. It goes back and forth. I also think he's maybe blaming life in general for his feelings.

I think much like another song “Anti-Matter” (that's also on the same album as this song), this one is also is inspired by a horrifying van crash the band experienced on Nov 3, 2022. This, much like the other track, sounds like it's an extension what they shared while huddled in the wreckage, as they helped frontman Garrett Russell stem the bleeding from his head wound while he was under the temporary effects of a concussion. The track speaks of where the mind goes at the most desperate & desolate of times, when it just about slips away to all but disconnect itself, and the aftermath.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Page
Ed Sheeran
There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Trouble Breathing

While the obvious connections with suicide or alcoholism could be drawn easily, more subtly this song could be about someone who views the world through a negative lens constantly and how as much as the writer tries to show the beauty in the world, this person refuses to see it. It's one or another between the rope and the bottle. There is no good option for this person. They can't see it. Skiba sings it in a kind of exasperated way like He's tired of hearing this negative view constantly and just allowing that person to continue feeling the way they feel knowing he can't do anything about it. You can hear it when he says maybe you're a vampire.
