Inside My Head Lyrics
Now my fingers bleed, now they stare at me
I'm a coward now
I hold my peace
And I twist and turn in a Chinese burn
You won't let go
You won't let go
Inside my head
Now my energy you suck from me
And I'm holding on for dear life
Quit smothering me
Quit laughing at me
I've got a disease, an English disease
It will not go
It will not go
Inside my head
Whatever you really said to him
He's sitting there inside of me
And you bother me, you possess me
You're there again, ahead of me
I won't let go
I won't let go
Inside my head
Inside my head
Inside my head

I really love this song. The whole verse of "I've got a disease, and english disease" is a really great shot at all brit-pop (i love it, though, I do). I think its one of their better earlier albums. Woot.

i heard that radiohead where going to release this but released creep instead. its a shame this is an excellant song.

I love this song so much! Noone has really said anything about the meaning, so I may as well make a stab at it! For me its about someone getting under your skin and dragging you down. Like someone saying something that significantly effects you and you go over it in your head. Like their voice repeating it to you, bringing you down and taking you over completely. Then people watching as you are being broken down, laughing at you and no matter how much you struggle you can't get away and it won't stop. It makes me think of someone being tortured and controlled completely by a voice in thier head.
Could be wrong
yea i concur, but i know my self that the only person that could have that control over me was one of the opposite sex. maybe its that this person controls his drifting, dreaming mind so its peppered with resentment cause he cant have this person. just a thought...

so different from most their stuff. reminds me of sonic youth (daydream nation) for some reason

Why doesn't this song have more comments????? This is one of my fave songs!!!!! I think this song is about someone driving you crazy, but it might be about something deeper than that...I'm not quite sure, but this is an awesome song, and needs way more comments!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my favourite radiohead song. ever.

thom yorke shows an amazing range in this song with his voice.
i think it's about drugs. "Chinese Burn" could refer to the Opium they created. meh, just an idea.

it's one of my favorite radiohead songs as well

a chinese burn is like an indian burn

I was going to say that this song could also, apart from being about a voice inside to bring him down, be about their fans. But then i realized this is like one of their earliest songs so it couldnt be about fans cause they didnt have much then. But if you look at it, to me it kind of represents someone who is famous and has given all to be. But now that he is, everyone's expectations of him is bringing him down. His fingers are bleeding from playing and practicing so much, he is hearing the voices in his head saying he still could give more, although he barely can. And he cannot run away because he likes it. Its his drug (everyone knows that drugs have side effects but the addicts cant quit them easily cause they like the feeling it gives them) After all its all that he ever could so. So despite the voice driving him crazy he continues his life like this.
