How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.
and i don't want to say that i wasted my days chasing instead of catching keeping. wasting wishes on copper and stars. i'm wanting you to save me and i'm not only asking. because i can face this falling it's just the taking that i fell. i'm breaking down

“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

There aren’t many things that’ll hurt more than giving love a chance against your better judgement only to have your heart crushed yet again. Ed Sheeran tells such a story on “Page.” On this track, he is devastated to have lost his lover and even more saddened by the feeling that he may never move on from this.

Somewhere Only We Know
Keane
Keane
Per the FAQ on Keane's website, Keane's drummer Richard Hughes, stated the following:
"We've been asked whether "Somewhere Only We Know" is about a specific place, and Tim has been saying that, for him, or us as individuals, it might be about a geographical space, or a feeling; it can mean something individual to each person, and they can interpret it to a memory of theirs... It's perhaps more of a theme rather than a specific message... Feelings that may be universal, without necessarily being totally specific to us, or a place, or a time..."
With the nostalgic sentiment and the overall tone of the song, I think Keane is attempting to express a Portuguese term known as 'saudade', which does not have a direct English translation but roughly means "that which we remember because it is gone."

Sunglasses at Night
Corey Hart
Corey Hart
In the 1980s, sunglasses were a common fashion for people who wanted to adopt a "tough guy" persona (note all the cop shows from that era -- Simon & Simon, Miami Vice, etc. -- where the lead characters wore shades). So I think this song is about a guy who wears shades as a way of hiding his insecurity after learning that his girlfriend is cheating on him. He's trying to pretend that he's a "tough guy" to hide the fact that his girlfriend's affair is disturbing him.
this is so beautiful. its so short but its so simply put, with so much emotion in so little space.
yeah their pirdy sick

I love this song so much... Me and my friend Nick listened to it over and over in the car once trying to see who could sing "Copper adn Staaaaaaaars" the longest. I love their old stuff... AHHH. But I went to see them play a few nights ago and I was thouroughly dissapointed. I have no clue what their new stuff is... it sounded like crap... I was so sad. I almost cried! Then the whole crowd started chanting "copper and Stars, Copper and Stars" and they were like "ok for you guys we will.......... Play a new song" It was so dissapointing. I wish they could go back to their old Copper and Stars days... OOOHHH Division is good too.
This is one great song. I don't know what it is about this song, but every time i listen to it, it affects me in a very unusual way, and i go insane every time i playing guitar and i listen to this. i think it might be about a guy that broke up with someone, and doesn't want to say that he wasted his time with that person, even though he is breaking down and going through a lot of pain.
i looooooooove this song! :) it reminds me of myself, but i guess i say that about every song i listen to...
MelancholyStranger, i second that! at least we have the old stuff.
