To what do I owe this gift my friend?
My life, my love, my soul?
I've been dancing with the devil way too long
And it's making me grow old
Making me grow old

Let's leave, oh let's get away
Get lost in time
Where there's no reason left to hide

Let's leave, oh let's get away
Run in fields of thyme
Where there's no reason left to hide
No reason to hide

What are you going to do with your gift dear child?
Give life, give love, give soul?
Divided is the one who dances
For the soul is so exposed
So exposed

Let's leave, oh let's get away
Get lost in time
Where there's no reason left to hide

Let's leave, oh let's get away
Run in fields of time
Where there's no reason left to hide

No reason to hide

There is no reason to hide
There is no reason to hide
There is no reason to hide
There is no reason to hide

Let's leave, oh let's get away
Get lost in time
Where there's no reason left to hide

Let's leave, oh let's get away
Run in fields of time
Where there's no reason left to hide

Let's leave, oh let's get away
Get lost in time
Where there's no reason left to hide

No reason to hide
There is no reason to hide

No reason to hide
There is no reason to hide

No reason to hide

Well...I won't say everything it means to me...but I think it goes along with some themes in other Creed songs, in Peace Inside Us All, "why don't we tear down the walls", and in Bullets, "hiding in the shadows", hiding is a pretty negative thing, either to hurt people or to stay away from them.

We do it because we are afraid, or because we want revenge, "human pride sings a vengeful song".

I think we do have to hide somewhat, from brutal people, "wise as serpents, harmless as doves". Not to put your best self out there for any old boor to rip your guts out.

But to always be looking for a chink in the armor, to make a flesh to flesh contact with people.

And to never hide from yourself, "a state of self-denial" he called in, in Pity for a Dime. Never let another man take your soul and forget who you are, that is really hiding from God, like Adam in the garden, to me.

I think these lyrics are wrong..I always thought it was"...lets leave all this and get away..." This is a great song and is very inspirational. "there is no reason to hide"

Nope, the lyrics are right. It really is 'let's leave...oh let's get away'. Have you noticed that even though in the lyrics of the album it says 'where there's no reason to hide' Stapp sings 'where there's no reason left to hide' ? Listen to it carefully and tell me of if I'm wrong. xxxDARKIRISxxx, Hide is the 9th track of 'Weathered', but we don't know if it'll become a single :)

Every time I hear this song, I think of my best friend. (a guy) There's been so many times, when I just wanna leave everything behind, and be together with him...but because of our friends (& the fact, that we're both in relationships) we can't. I have this on a burned CD he made me, and he put the song on there for that exact reason.

'Divided is the one who dances'

I think this has something to do with choosing to follow God or not. ... anyways I love the song.

Same ideas expressed in Fitter, Happier are expressed in this song. We're told to strive for some sort of ideal life, which includes getting a good job, being kind to everyone, finding a partner, getting married, having a couple kids, living in a quiet neighborhood in a nice big house, etc. But in Fitter, Happier the narrator(?) realizes that it's incredibly robotic to live this life. People are being used by those in power "like a pig in a cage on antibiotics"--being pacified with things like new phones and cool gadgets and houses while being sucked dry. On No Surprises, the narrator is realizing how this life is killing him slowly. In the video, his helmet is slowly filling up with water, drowning him. But he's so complacent with it. This is a good summary of the song. This boring, "perfect" life foisted upon us by some higher powers (not spiritual, but political, economic, etc. politicians and businessmen, perhaps) is not the way to live. But there is seemingly no way out but death. He'd rather die peacefully right now than live in this cage. While our lives are often shielded, we're in our own protective bubbles, or protective helmets like the one Thom wears, if we look a little harder we can see all the corruption, lies, manipulation, etc. that is going on in the world, often run by huge yet nearly invisible organizations, corporations, and 'leaders'. It's a very hopeless song because it reflects real life.
