This is the Christmas song to end all Christmas songs. It came out right at the time the Cold War was nearing the end. Deep into the Reagan era, we the Americans were at grindstone odds with the Soviets. Weird Al does have a way with keeping his ear to the ground on current events like with the song "Headline News". I think this is his ode to nuclear war. It's really, really intelligent by the way he turned into a Christmas song. This is my favorite Christmas tune of all time...does anybody else agree?
Ha ha this song is hilarious. one of my favorite christmas tunes. Its funny thinking about being nuked during christmas. I especially like the part about shooting someone coming down the chimney.
This song is totally awesome. It's really really catchy tune. So catchy, in fact, that i was singing it around the house last christmas and mum yelled at me. Then i played her the song and she thought it was funny!!!
I just bought The Ultimate Weird Al Yankovic Video Collection on DVD. There is a video on the disc with this song. In the middle of all the "duck and cover" and Christmas footage, there is a shot of the current president of the time. Can anyone guess who it is? The clue is that he just passed on this year.
This song is more like Tom Lehrer (another comedy singer). Wierd Al normally writes, taking the piss out of non-serious stuff, here we see him making a serious point.
