"One Sweet World" as written by Mildred J. Hill and Patty Smith Hill....
Nine planets round the sun
Only one does the sun embrace
Upon this watered one
So much we take for granted
So let us sleep outside tonight
Lay down in our mother's arms
For here we can rest safely

If green should slip to grey
Would our hearts still bloody beat
And if mountains crumble away
And the river dry
Would it stop the stepping feet

Take all that we can get
When it's done
Nobody left to bury here
Nobody left to dig the holes
And here we can rest safely

One sweet world
Around a star is spinning
One sweet world
And in her breath I'm swimming
And here we will rest in peace

General CommentI'm a middle school science teacher, and every year, on the last day of class, I have my "official tree hugging hippy lesson". I have an undergraduate degree in environmental studies, so I feel the need to include something environmental each year. I alway start the lesson with this song. The kids listen to it. They read the words and then I have them interpret it. It's pretty cool to watch a bunch of 13 year olds suddenly realize that song lyrics have meaning. And, they always "get it". I also end up with a few new Dave fans by the end of the day too.

General Commentthis is the first song that i ever saw dave play live, and it was amazing. there's something about sleeping outside in the grass that really puts you in a peaceful way.

General CommentMahicofish- You should really check out some of Dave's other stuff.. like UTTAD. That CD is pure magic.... You picked some good songs but not his best.

General CommentThe go green thing is great and all but heres what i think the chorus means:

Let us sleep outside tonight=become one with nature
Lay down in our mothers arms=embrace what our mother (earth) gives us (weed)
For here we can rest safely=weed never hurt anybody

its kinda a more fun and laid back interpretation

General CommentI bought one of the One Sweet Whirled ice cream bars today. They're quite tasty.
This song is awesome-especially the acoustic version-and makes you think about our planet without sending preachy. My favorite line:

    One sweet world
    Around a star is spinning

General CommentOne Sweet World, Everyday, or Angel are Dave's best three songs. For One Sweet World, I can just sit back and listen to the music 'cuz it just relaxes me and gets me through my day.
