Scream thy last scream old woman with a casket
Blam blam your pointers point your pointers
Waddle with apples to crunchy Mrs. Stores
She'll be scrubbing bubbles on all fours
Scream thy last scream old woman with a casket

Fling your arms madly old lady with a daughter
Flat tops of houses, mouses, houses
Fittle and tittle and zittin' quack quack
Watching the telly till all hours, telly time!
Fling your arms madly, old lady with a daughter

Scream thy last scream old woman with a casket
Blam blam your pointers point your pointers
Waddle with apples to crunchy Mrs. Stores
She'll be scrubbing bubbles on all fours
Scream thy last scream old woman with a casket

General Commentlol I agree... I'm not seeing the masterpiece here, though most of his masterpieces take some serious dissecting. Anyone understand this song? If you come up with something, IM me or email

General CommentIt's hard to interpret or disect a lot of Syd's late work with the Floyd. Scream Thy Last Scream was the last attempt at a single in the 1st (and best in my opinion) incarnation of Pink Floyd. For me, Scream Thy Last Scream seems like a last gasp for Syd. It's almost a premonition of Syd's departure and it's time for one last confusing scream. The mad old woman with the casket could be a disguise for Syd and his declining mental condition at the time. Regardless, it's certainly one of the more obscure of all the early Floyd tunes. I quite like Jugband Blues better than this one... more evidence of a schizophrenic creative mind.

General CommentThe correct lyrics are as follows:

Scream thy last scream old woman with a casket
Blam blam your pointers point your pointers
Waddle with apples to grouchy Mrs. Stores
She'll be scrubbing bubbles on all fours

Scream thy last scream old woman with a casket
Fling your arms madly old lady with a daughter
Flap top top houses, mouses, houses
Victim a victim of sitting fat flat

Watching the telly till all hours, everytime
Fling your arms madly old lady with a daughter

Scream thy last scream old woman with a casket
Blam blam your pointers point your pointers
Waddle with apples to grouchy Mrs. Stores
She'll be scrubbing bubbles on all fours

General CommentWhy did Pink Floyd never put this song on an album?

General CommentI don't think the lyrics ever made sense. Syd's genius has always been in part his child-like rhymes and this is a perfect example. But the true genius here is the chipmunk voice. It's awesome and gives the whole thing a cool spooky vibe, much like a cute doll or a clown in a horror movie.

General CommentThis is Nick Mason singing not Syd, the squeeky singing is Syds singing sped up.

But the normal singing is not Syd it is drummer Nick Mason.

General CommentIt doesn't have to mean anything in particular. All we really know is that Syd wrote some words. Given his state at the time, I would guess that he wrote the lyrics after seeing a cleaning lady scrubbing the floors at the study. It really might be that simple.

General CommentThe song seems to be about Roger Waters - think about it "Scream thy last scream" - Roger is known for that demonic high pitch scream from "Careful with that Axe Eugene"...etc, or it is just the constant nagging he took when people got upset with him. Still, it only makes sense that Roger Waters is "the old lady with the casket" as both Syd & him lost their father's in the war - only seems that Syd moved on better lthus Roger is carrying around the casket still. The "pointers" are criticisms that Syd takes when things about the songs are to be tweaked...etc Another bit of evidence to suggest the song being about Roger Waters is the line about the mouse as in "The Wall" Roger describes in an interview about how he had a mouse once as seen in the "Comfortably Numb" song. Speaking of "The Wall"l did you notice how Roger's character "Pink" was watching TV like a zombie, how about the line in this song "Watching the teley till all hours." The Pink Floyd have been known to reuse ideas and lyric concepts, and quite brilliantly each time in a unique way (such with the idea of catching the sun)
    anyway, that's what I think.
