Could you let down your hair
And be transparent for a while
Just a little while
See if your human after all
Honesty is a hard attribute to find
When we all want to seem like we've got it all figured out
I may be the first to say that I don't have a clue
I don't have all the answers
And god I pretend like I do just
Trying to find my way
Trying to find my way the best that I know how

Well I haven't memorized all the cute things to say
But I'm working on it
Maybe I'll master this art for today
I'd I quote all the line off the top of my head
And you'd be
I don't understand all of these things Ive read
I'm just trying to find my way
Trying to find my way
Trying to find my way the best that I know how

Well I haven't drawn it or figured out quite yet
But even if it takes my whole life
To get to where I need to be
And if I should fall to the bottom of the end
I'll be one step back to you
I'm trying to find my way
Trying to find my way
Oh, I'm trying to find my way
Trying to find my way

I first heard this song and I thought it was alright. Maybe because I wasn't in a situation where I could fully understand the meaning of the lyrics. Then life became harder and I had more responsibilities on my shoulders. I now understand what I means to try your hardest and hope for the best. I'm just amazed by the amount of determination expressed in this song, with the quote:

"even if it takes my whole life/to get to where I need to be"

It's very encouraging and I'm glad I learned to appreciate it .

Also, on a funny note. I driving home one night, and my friend called me. He was lost and he needed directions. And I was actually playing "Trying" and I heard the lines "trying to find my way"...I laughed so hard hahaha.

This song seems to be about trying with a significant other to be all they want and need. I think that there is also a deeper meaning of just trying to be the best person you can in all aspects of life. If you fall, get up and keep trying.

I heard this song on Third Watch and feel in love with it. I just had to download it. I hope other people like it at least that much too.

I also heard this song on the Third Watch. And i cant get out of my head. By far one my most favorite songs, his voice and the words. Just kinda calms you down and makes you think of your life...

I think its about a guy trying to be something he's not just to get a girl. And he doesn't like what he's becoming.

I think this song represents the purity of learning. Learning about life, love, and how to be happy without being fake. My favorite line (by far) is, "And if I should fall / To the bottom of the end / I'll be one step back to you" because that can also be interpreted as a moving-on song. I'm moving on, but even if I can't move on, I can always go back to you and that would be okay.

I see this song in a different way. I believe he's addressing a girl, or rather, a girl who's a bit "uptight" about her faith. (Could you let down your hair/And be transparent for a while/Just a little while/to see if you're human after all) I think what Jason's trying to say is that he is far from perfect and he doesn't have all the answers to life's questions...but he's working on it. He's not perfect, but his faith is real.

Fast Car
Tracy Chapman
"Fast car" is kind of a continuation of Bruce Springsteen's "Born to Run." It has all the clawing your way to a better life, but in this case the protagonist never makes it with her love; in fact she is dragged back down by him. There is still an amazing amount of hope and will in the lyrics; and the lyrics themselve rank and easy five. If only music was stronger it would be one of those great radio songs that you hear once a week 20 years after it was released. The imagery is almost tear-jerking ("City lights lay out before us", "Speeds so fast felt like I was drunk"), and the idea of starting from nothing and just driving and working and denigrating yourself for a chance at being just above poverty, then losing in the end is just painful and inspiring at the same time.

Gentle Hour
Yo La Tengo
This song was originally written by a guy called Peter Gutteridge. He was one of the founders of the "Dunedin Sound" a musical scene in the south of New Zealand in the early 80s. From there it was covered by "The Clean" one of the early bands of that scene (he had originally been a member of in it's early days, writing a couple of their best early songs). The Dunedin sound, and the Clean became popular on american college radio in the mid to late 80s. I guess Yo La Tengo heard that version. Great version of a great song,

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Amazing
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran tells a story of unsuccessfully trying to feel “Amazing.” This track is about the being weighed down by emotional stress despite valiant attempts to find some positivity in the situation. This track was written by Ed Sheeran from the perspective of his friend. From the track, we see this person fall deeper into the negative thoughts and slide further down the path of mental torment with every lyric.
