I guess you can figure out what I mean from those 2 things. I'm not saying this song is about a girl but whoever wrote it might have written it about a girl and was in the same situation as me, or it could be about anybody who says one thing and then does another.

Hmmm...it sounds to me like he says "do my eyes portray a hint of loneliness," and not "betray." It makes more sense too doesn't it?

Yet another reason to love thrice...

Just look at the title of the song.. "opaque" which means impermeable by light...light cant pass through it.. and this alludes to the part of the song where he says "i only want to see the light" which shows the contrast...its not possible i want it..to love and hate something at the same time.

I think in this song, whoever wrote it was very confused. Youc an see how he is going between two things... love and hate. He knows that going for this person (a girl) is wrong and he hates everyhting about her but he loves her. Hasn't anyone had a relationship like that. For me it was my ex-boyfriend smoked pot, wanted only a physical relationship, yet I stayed with it even though I hated everything he was about, but I loved or thought I loved him. Opaque is not being able to see the other side.. not seeing the light at the end of the tunnel which is going to tell you the future, what you should exspect... but you can't see that because your blinded. " to lie in perfect honesty".. maybe saying " Yeah I hate him.." well your lieing in reality because you think you love him but really inside... you should and do hate him. A picasso reality.. refers to having everyhting mixed up , mixed emotions.. you can't even tell what you feel anymore because everything got so messed up.

wrong everyone. It's about following god. "..since when did following your heart become a sin, I only want to see the light" It's about wanting to follow into the light of god but i could see why you would all see its about girls, i mean after all the lyrics could be put in many ways. I say let the song be what you want it to be, thats whats good about thrice their songs run so deep, every phrase is complex (newer stuff) but whats great is everyone can see it in their own way and relate to the words.
