Overall about difficult moments of disappointment and vulnerability. Having hope and longing, while remaining optimistic for the future. Encourages the belief that with each new morning there is a chance for things to improve.
The chorus offers a glimmer of optimism and a chance at a resolution and redemption in the future.
Captures the rollercoaster of emotions of feeling lost while loving someone who is not there for you, feeling let down and abandoned while waiting for a lover. Lost with no direction, "Now I'm up in the air with the rain in my hair, Nowhere to go, I can go anywhere"
The bridge shows signs of longing and a plea for companionship. The Lyrics express a desire for authentic connection and the importance of Loving someone just as they are. "Just in passing, I'm not asking. That you be anyone but you”
Corrosive
Tainted by my sin
I'm spilling blood
And I can hardly contain it
Corrosive
Hallowing the hand
Stiffened
I eat away
Eat
Eat into the surface
Yeah, you push it
Yeah, you push it
Yeah, you push it
Explosive
More violent more violent
All consuming
Throbbing
Straight to the circle
Explosive
Move on reaction
I slow it down
I slow it
Down down down down
Yeah, you push it
Yeah, you push it
Yeah, you push it
I see it, I need it
I see it, I need it
My mind is corrosive
I trip on corrosive
I freak
See through me
My eyes are explosive
I feed on it
Black out
Crucify me
Yeah, you push it
Tainted by my sin
I'm spilling blood
And I can hardly contain it
Corrosive
Hallowing the hand
Stiffened
I eat away
Eat
Eat into the surface
Yeah, you push it
Yeah, you push it
Yeah, you push it
Explosive
More violent more violent
All consuming
Throbbing
Straight to the circle
Explosive
Move on reaction
I slow it down
I slow it
Down down down down
Yeah, you push it
Yeah, you push it
Yeah, you push it
I see it, I need it
I see it, I need it
My mind is corrosive
I trip on corrosive
I freak
See through me
My eyes are explosive
I feed on it
Black out
Crucify me
Yeah, you push it

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988.
"'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it."
"There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

Blue
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.
Midnight
Ed Sheeran
Ed Sheeran
“Midnight” is a song about finding a love that is so true that it provides a calming feeling through every storm. Ed Sheeran reflects on his good fortunes in landing someone with such peace and support and speaks of not fearing the dark days because he knows they’ll all end in the safety nets of her arms.
“Well, good morning there / What a way to start the day / With everything laid bare,” Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse, enthusiastic to be waking up beside his woman. He apologizes for missing her calls in the second verse and promises to return them because for him, speaking to her is the most important thing. “Well, I get lost inside my head / In this chaos, you’re my calm / And I will find my feet again / ‘Cause еven the worst days of my life will always еnd / At midnight in your arms,” sings Ed Sheeran in the chorus, revelling in his good luck.
Okay the song is NOT about taking a shit c'mon people. Allow me to break it down in a way that is actually meaningful.
corrosive (drugs) tainted by my sin (He can never be the same for what he's done implying murder) i'm spilling blood (definitely murder) and i can hardly contain it (serial killer on the edge, possibly the law is onto him now) ...hallowing the hand, stiffened i eat away, eat, eat into the surface (cannibalism of someone with rigor mortis) yeah you push it (pushing the limits of being caught, referring back to hardly being able to contain it) explosive, more violent more violent, all consuming throbbing, strait to the circle (drug addiction or psychosis now completely taking over him or his brain being the circle or the center) explosive (his rage ignites) move on reaction (obviously he fights or chases his targets first in some way) i slow it down i slow it, down, down, down, down (the adrenaline of murdering someone because time seems to slow down) i see it. i need it, i see it. i need it (he has found a new target and now "needs it" aka further proof he is psychotic) my mind is corrosive (he is definitely psychotic) i trip on corrosive (drug induced psychosis) i freak (tripping on the drugs) see through me (now you know why he is the way he is) black out (entering his state of uncontrollable rage, a reason for being hardly able to contain it) crucify me (he has sinned aka murdered) yeah, you push it (pushing the limits of what someone can do and still continue to live in normal society)
There, now get your mind off the poop jokes and LISTEN to what he says with some interpretation skills folks.
idk about drugs because ive never actually read the book that the song was inspired by
but your pretty spot on about insanity and murder. but the drugs certainly make sense in those instances...nvm there were drugs. forgot about that...
@SeanIzen Very close, closer than the meth thing but yes its about murder and murdering other people due to the disease people got called Diphtheria which made them go crazy in Wisconsin (hence Wisconsin death trip)
The lyrics are wrong. The line in the chorus sounds to me like:
"Yeah, you poo shit"
This is true. When I poo, I poo shit. This song is about taking a dump. 1st verse is about bad diarrhoea, which burns so bad it feels "corrosive" he can "hardly contain it" and it "taints" the bowl. 2nd verse is a big solid turd which "explodes" out of his "circle" and leaves it "throbbing". No what a crap interpretation you say. Maybe you're right. There aren't going to be any scatological themes in a song by the band that brought us 'Love Dump' and 'Shit in a Bag', right?
You've convinced me man! I first thought you where smoking the hippie lettuce but you gave substantial evidence like "Love Dump" and "Shit in a bag" you made me shit my pants but unlike the song I enjoyed it very much.
YA MAN LINCOLN PARK SUXORRZ!!1one I"M JUST GONNA JOIN IN WITH EVERY1 ELTS AND SAY THEY SUCK WITHOUT EVEN GIVING A REASON AS TO WHY I THINK THAT!!! I"M SO COLL!!!!
Okay, Just to clear up all the misinterpretation, The song "Push It" by Static X is refering to mainlining crystal meth. Allow me to explain, "push it" refers to the action of depressing the "plunger" of a hypodermic needle. Other common terms include pushing off. Also "spilling blood and I can hardly contain it", paints a pretty obvious picture.. And furthermore "more violent more violent all consuming throbbing strait to the circle", Violence is a very common reaction from usage of crystal meth and it is a fact that when you inject crystal, your asshole will throb very much. In fact that is one of the first thing you will notice when injected. As an X meth addict I can pretty much read between the lines on this one guys. Also "I see I need it" hit the nail right on the head. The black out part refers to when you have been up for too many days, black out is inevitable. Also if you inject too much a black out will occur. Thank You for reading.
im not entirely sure what it means but i do know that it was indeed inspired by the 1973 story Wisconsin Death Trip by Michael Lesy. It was a story about murder, death, suicide, insanity, and disease so it could be one of those that this song is about. (personally I believe its insanity and murder)
@yukichan3 This is what its about, see my description. I thought it was about meth at first but its about shooting morphine
um..you're all idiots. kdog was comparing the meanings. in no way did they say anything about comparing the talent (or lack thereof), or even the sounds of the two groups. they said the meanings seemed similar TO THEM. congratulations to everyone on turning this into a message board about the difference between linkin park and static-x. you people have serious problems. oh, and i poo shit too. so there's got to be SOMETHING to the shit explanation..mhmm. -gaia
whoever starts talken bout linken park on there review of a metal song is a fucken idiot
i think its about shooting meth..
And just to clear up the corrosive acid theory. Crystal meth is one of the most corrosive products out there. Lysergic Acid Diethylamide (lsd) is corrosive but not as much. The song is about injecting meth.
Also I have done alot of acid in my days and I wouldn't say that when "I see it I need it" but crystal meth, a whole different story.
