The Jester Race Lyrics

Rush faster on the one-way lane
the answers so silent

Rysty gods in their machine-mind armours
grind our souls in the millstone of time
the "deathbed harvest" is a dead man´s banquet
of mould ridden bread and black, poisoned wine

And we go... our step so silent
And we go... our blooded trace
the Jester Race

Calling our to the gathered masses
their answers so silent

And we go...

Embracing the tools of the neo-wolf age
that speak of silence and silence alone

Offering the tokens, the reliced idols
to the heirs of the newly raped ground
inferior even to the transparent winds
- lesser in motion and sound

And we go...

There is no trace of me
in their altered blueprints of life

Gala impaled on their horns and lances
the fumes from her body give chase
as the strong of blind men savour the scent,
dream-dead from Prosaic and hate

-epilogue-

"Sunwind strokes the ElectroHeart,
ignition roars through the corridors,
stream launching the binary vessels"

Vanities in extreme formations
ride into tomorrow´s rigid great face
The Machinery outlives the futile scripts
of our dying jester race

This is my first post, hopefully someone will find it helpful. The previous posts are pretty accurate about this song's meaning. About a week ago I saw video on youtube that is an interview with In Flames at the time of the Jester Race album. Anders states that the album mostly has two underlying themes, one of which is the meaning of the title song. He said The Jester Race (song) is about humans constant and growing dependence of machines to do things for us.

You can analyze all the details of the song for each specific meaning, but according to In Flames this song is about us losing our humanity due to relying on machines.

I belive that the focus of this song is that when compared to the God's that control our fate, we (humans) are foolish, and silly (Jesters)

In other words, we're making asses of oursleves in front of the Gods.

It seems like its saying that not only is humanity a bad joke, but that we are also destroying/replacing ourselves with our technology.

Standard buddhist-slant misanthrope. Same as everything else on the album, except catchier+crunchier+better. Basically, what In Flames should have progressed to. TJR=still their best album...2nd being Colony.

It actually goes with their concept album "The Jester Race" which is a bout humanity destroying itself with its own technology and all going to hell. bummer

i think it may have something to do with comparing the "exploits" of man to simple distruction, and idiocy. i also noticed a couple of references that were picked up in Whoracle: the dead man's banquet metaphor was used in Food for the Gods, and the neo-wolf thing was used in Gyroscope, the ElectroHeart thing was used in Jester Script Transfigured...there're prolly more, but those were the ones i noticed...

...and we go... continually raping all the ground we come upon, and replacing nature with machines... joining along in the jester race...the race which will lead to the end... to ultimate dystopia... it will be episode 666...

i kinda joined the concepts of Jester Race and Whoracle there, but they could very well be parralelle

man,i like the way you think,i've seenyourpost on some in flames song lyrics and i think you interpret them very well.

wow...is lunar strain a concept album... wot bout colony...i heard that if you chop out a couple of songs it is sort of linked...i.e. the song colony is linked with the new world...

Cover art for The Jester Race lyrics by In Flames

some of the jester race, whoracle, colony, and parts of clayman are all about the future and how its going to be, the jester race is from a futuristic point of view, whoracle is about the end of the world as it is is now, colony is about "The new world" and clayman is excerpts from all parts of it.

"Sunwind strokes the ElectroHeart, ignition roars through the corridors, stream launching the binary vessels"

Vanities in extreme formations ride into tomorrow´s rigid great face The Machinery outlives the futile scripts of our dying jester race"

the electro heart is referring to pacemakers and the futile scripts refer to books and how they are being gotten rid-of. the sun-wind is clearly electricity

Offering the tokens, the reliced idols to the heirs of the newly raped ground inferior even to the transparent winds

  • lesser in motion and sound

    this part is clear,

Gala impaled on their horns and lances the fumes from her body give chase as the strong of blind men savour the scent, dream-dead from Prosaic and hate

Gaia literally was the goddes of the earth and this part is about how "The jester race" or humans destroy the earth and take pride in it.

This is about humanity hurling itself into oblivion.
