I read somewhere that this song was about when Jimi went to someone else in the Experience's house in England.. that he was cold and tired and wanted to stand by the fire and the parents had a mean dog that was sitting by the fire and it tried to bite Jimi. Whatever it's about it's a good song, and was always played as the opening song.. can you imagine being at a concert and they start with this song?

The line 'Move over, Rover, and let Jimi take over' came about from when Jimi visited Noel Redding's family. He was frozen solid and went to stand next to the fire where the dog was sleeping.

idk, i guess jimi's talking to a chick. he's trying to get at her, but she doesn't want to hear it. she gives him all these excuses, but he lets her know that he just wants to ahem, you know. he's letting her know its ok . . . "you wont' get burned" - vd, "you try to give me your money . . . save it for your rainy day" - he's not a whore or anything, he just wants what he wants.

The line "move over rover, let Jimi take over" actualy came from when actually encountered a guitar playing dog.

The fought an epic battle for 5 days straight, until finally Jimi was crowned the victor, he then said this now famous line, coining it for one of his future songs.

apparently this song was written after the band were at a concert in chas chandlers home town.

after the concert the band were staying chas's mothers house, the journey home was incredibly cold, and no sooner had the door to her house been opened jimi said 'let me stand next to your fire', but apparently the dog was standing in the way, hence the lyric 'oh move over rover, let jimi take over'

Don't let the lyrics fool you. I heard on an exclusive interview that the meaning of this song is that of a hurting penis. Apparently, Jimi's Penis had frostbight once after sledding naked so he asked to stand next to a bitch's fire. Love the song, love it.

Mountain Song
Jane's Addiction
Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it." "There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."

I Can't Go To Sleep
Wu-Tang Clan
This song is written as the perspective of the boys in the street, as a whole, and what path they are going to choose as they get older and grow into men. (This is why the music video takes place in an orphanage.) The seen, and unseen collective suffering is imbedded in the boys’ mind, consciously or subconsciously, and is haunting them. Which path will the boys choose? Issac Hayes is the voice of reason, maybe God, the angel on his shoulder, or the voice of his forefathers from beyond the grave who can see the big picture and are pleading with the boys not to continue the violence and pattern of killing their brothers, but to rise above. The most beautiful song and has so many levels. Racism towards African Americans in America would not exist if everyone sat down and listened to this song and understood the history behind the words. The power, fear, pleading in RZA and Ghostface voices are genuine and powerful. Issac Hayes’ strong voice makes the perfect strong father figure, who is possibly from beyond the grave.

Magical
Ed Sheeran
How would you describe the feeling of being in love? For Ed Sheeran, the word is “Magical.” in HIS three-minute album opener, he makes an attempt to capture the beauty and delicacy of true love with words. He describes the magic of it all over a bright Pop song produced by Aaron Dessner.

Blue
Ed Sheeran
“Blue” is a song about a love that is persisting in the discomfort of the person experiencing the emotion. Ed Sheeran reflects on love lost, and although he wishes his former partner find happiness, he cannot but admit his feelings are still very much there. He expresses the realization that he might never find another on this stringed instrumental by Aaron Dessner.

Somewhere Only We Know
Keane
Per the FAQ on Keane's website, Keane's drummer Richard Hughes, stated the following: "We've been asked whether "Somewhere Only We Know" is about a specific place, and Tim has been saying that, for him, or us as individuals, it might be about a geographical space, or a feeling; it can mean something individual to each person, and they can interpret it to a memory of theirs... It's perhaps more of a theme rather than a specific message... Feelings that may be universal, without necessarily being totally specific to us, or a place, or a time..." With the nostalgic sentiment and the overall tone of the song, I think Keane is attempting to express a Portuguese term known as 'saudade', which does not have a direct English translation but roughly means "that which we remember because it is gone."
